Did you know food chaining is a feeding strategy used in pediatric feeding therapy to help children expand the foods they eat. Instead of introducing completely new foods, therapists start with a child’s “safe” food and make small, gradual changes in taste, texture, or appearance. This step-by-step approach can reduce anxiety around eating and help children become more comfortable trying new foods—especially for those with feeding challenges! 🍌🍽️

Nonverbal imitation is a powerful (and often overlooked) foundation for communication 👇
Before children use words, they learn by watching and copying.

Clapping.
Waving.
Banging a drum.
Making a silly face.

When a child can imitate actions, it shows they’re building:
✨ Joint attention
✨ Motor planning
✨ Social engagement
✨ Early play skills

And those skills directly support speech and language development.

If your child isn’t yet using many words, try this:
✔️ Get face-to-face
✔️ Model a simple action (clap, tap table, blow a kiss)
✔️ Pause and wait
✔️ Celebrate any attempt to copy

Communication starts long before talking 💛
