The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) is reporting 12 new cases of measles in the state since Friday, bringing the total number of cases in South Carolina related to the Upstate outbreak to 962.

There are currently 127 people in quarantine and eight in isolation. The latest end of quarantine for these is March 11.

Based on the new cases, DPH has identified public exposures at Libertas Academy (17 individuals in quarantine). Additionally, individuals remain in quarantine from Inman Intermediate (fewer than 5 individuals in quarantine).

DPH has one public exposure notification to report. DPH has defined the time of potential exposure at the following location: Walmart – Powdersville, 11410 Anderson Road, Greenville, S.C. on Sunday Feb. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m.

DPH is reporting 44 new cases of measles in the state since Tuesday, bringing the total number of cases in South Carolina related to the Upstate outbreak to 920.

There are currently 277 people in quarantine and eight in isolation. The latest end of quarantine for these is March 2.

DPH has identified numerous locations where exposures to infectious measles may have occurred. DPH has defined the times of potential exposure at the following locations:

- Target at 6025 Wade Hampton Boulevard, Taylors, S.C. on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, from 8 to 10:15 p.m.

- Rick Erwin's Level 10 Restaurant at 225 W. Main Street, Unit 100, Spartanburg, SC - Thursday, Jan. 29 from 7 p.m. - 12 a.m. (Friday, Jan. 30)

-Boost Mobile at 1515 Asheville Highway, Spartanburg, S.C. on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 2 to 5 p.m.

-Social Security Administration at 145 N. Church Street, Spartanburg, S.C. on Thursday, Jan. 29 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Measles Update

DPH is reporting 29 new cases of measles in the state since Friday, bringing the total number of cases in South Carolina related to the Upstate outbreak to 876.

There are currently 354 people in quarantine and 22 in isolation. The latest end of quarantine for these is Feb. 24.

DPH has also confirmed a case of measles in a Sumter County resident. At this point in the investigation, it is not yet clear whether this new case is linked to the Upstate outbreak centered around Spartanburg County or if the case may have been exposed where measles is occurring in other locations.

DPH has identified numerous locations where exposures to infectious measles may have occurred. DPH has defined the times of potential exposure at the following locations:

- Mariachis Mexican Restaurant at 1072 Broad Street, Sumter S.C. on Friday, Jan. 23 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

- Food Lion at 5700 Broad Street Ext., Sumter, S.C. on Saturday, Jan. 24 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

- Walmart Neighborhood Market at 343 Pinewood Road, Sumter, S.C. on Sunday, Jan. 25 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Removing the universal recommendation for Hepatitis B vaccination could result in thousands of chronic HepB infections, leading to severe complications like liver cancer and death. The AAFP strongly supports maintaining universal HepB vaccination at birth, and we call on CDC to ensure this safety net continues to protect newborns and life-saving protection remains the standard of care.
