January is Cervical Cancer Awareness Month

At Hospice of Scotland County, we stand with our community in raising awareness about cervical cancer and the importance of early detection. Regular screenings and HPV vaccinations can save lives.

Cervical cancer is preventable and treatable when caught early—let’s work together to spread the word and encourage loved ones to prioritize their health.

On Thursday evening, Hospice of Scotland County welcomed members of our volunteer team to the annual Volunteer Drop-In at our administrative building. Led by its exception Volunteer Coordinator Bunny Hasty, this team is truly one of the most impactful volunteer groups in Scotland County—and we couldn’t be prouder!

Volunteerism is at the heart of hospice care. In fact, Medicare requires that at least 5% of all patient care be provided by volunteers. But our volunteers don’t just meet expectations—they exceed them.

📊 Last Fiscal Year Highlights:

✅ Volunteers provided 9% of patient care for hospice patients in North Carolina
✅ Volunteers provided 7% of patient care for hospice patients in South Carolina
✅ Contributed an amazing 4,500+ hours of compassionate care

Despite the extensive training, continuing education, and strict HIPAA compliance required, our volunteers remain dedicated, compassionate, and committed to delivering the highest standard of care to those facing life’s final journey.

Thank you to each and every one of our hospice volunteers for generously giving your time and energy to provide safe, high-quality, and compassionate care to those we serve. Your selfless service makes a profound difference in the lives of our patients and their families. We couldn’t do this without you!
