Wayne County Schools Statement Regarding Law Enforcement Presence at Lavalette Elementary
Near the end of the school day today, a staff member at Lavalette Elementary received a perceived threatening message. In accordance with district safety protocols, law enforcement was immediately notified.
Officers from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police responded to the school, ensured school security, and supervised student dismissal at the end of the day.
Our law enforcement partners are handling the matter and school will continue on a normal schedule.
