Wayne County Schools Statement Regarding Law Enforcement Presence at Lavalette Elementary

Near the end of the school day today, a staff member at Lavalette Elementary received a perceived threatening message. In accordance with district safety protocols, law enforcement was immediately notified.

Officers from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police responded to the school, ensured school security, and supervised student dismissal at the end of the day.

Our law enforcement partners are handling the matter and school will continue on a normal schedule.

We extend our sincere gratitude to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and the West Virginia State Police for their swift response and support.

Welcome Back! We are so excited to see you!

Doors will open at 7am.

Car loop begins and 715am. If you're dropping off before 715am you need to park in the church and walk your student to the door. Cars can begin in the loop at 715am.

Kindergarten parents ONLY can stay in the cafe tomorrow until it's time to go to class.

Please make sure you send a note or your student knows how they're getting home.

We can't wait to see you!!!

From Mrs. Rachel, School Nurse

Parents can bring daily medications or as needed medications (inhalers, etc) for school to open house or she will return on August 13th, and you can come to school after that date.

She must have new orders from a medical doctor for the 25-26 school year. If you need a new medication administration form they will be available in the office or at open house.

A parent must bring in medications to the office. Please do not send medications in your child’s backpack.

Also any student that has a diagnosis requiring the need of emergency medications(epi pen, seizure med, etc) must have order from doctor and medication at school on or before the first day of school.
