Celebrating Healing and Hope at Sacred Heart!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the ribbon cutting of our new Center for Wound Healing at St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital.

We were honored to have the Franklin County Chamber of Commerce, our dedicated staff, providers, and community members with us as we opened this state-of-the-art center.

This expansion brings advanced wound care services including hyperbaric oxygen therapy—to Lavonia and surrounding communities. These treatments help patients with chronic and complex wounds avoid complications and improve quality of life.

We’re proud to partner with Healogics, the nation’s leader in advanced wound care, to bring this vital service to Northeast Georgia.

❣️ Hooray for Sierra Akin, RN, our latest recipient of the DAISY Award for Nursing Excellence! 🌼 Sierra provides care in our Family Birth Center at St. Mary's Hospital. She was nominated by a new mom who loved the care Sierra gave her.

“Sierra made an immediate impact,” the mom said. “One of the most meaningful moments came when I got overwhelmed and began to cry. Sierra stood right by my side, wiping my tears. 🫂 In that moment, she became more than just my nurse – she became my emotional support and an advocate for my peace of mind.

“Sierra is everything you hope for in a nurse,” the mom concluded. “Everyone deserves a Sierra in their life and on their care team.”

Congratulations to Connie Thornton, RN, a case manager at St. Mary’s Sacred Heart Hospital, on receiving our November Spirit of Mercy Award. Connie lives, works and serves in the spirit of Catherine McAuley, founder of our legacy sponsor, the Sisters of Mercy. She sees the needy, those hurt by injustice, and the broken-hearted. She is always willing to show love and kindness. She will rally colleagues to help patients who need clothing, food, transportation or other necessities.
