In 2008, when my son was just one, I returned to graduate school with the determination to build a future that would make both of us proud. I completed my Master’s degree and didn’t stop there. I went straight into the doctoral program and graduated in 2014—on time and against all odds. There were many moments I wanted to give up. Balancing school, work, and motherhood pushed me to my limits. There were nights filled with tears, days I questioned everything, but I kept going because my son deserved to see me succeed. “HE BECAME MY REASON, NOT MY EXCUSE.” My son is my why and God is my how🙏🏽

Your mindset determines your reality. Success looks different for every mother. Find your rhythm and own it. I showed my son that it’s possible to pursue your dreams while raising a child—you don’t have to give up one for the other. While I did sacrifice my social life, I never sacrificed him or my vision. We walked this journey side by side, and now he’s preparing to forge his own path as he heads off to a four-year university in August. I’m proud of us🫶🏽🫡

We want to extend so much gratitude to our family and friends. Nasir had a great time and enjoyed hanging out with everyone before his send-off. I didn’t stop moving, so I didn’t get the opportunity to chill and talk to everyone. I was so happy to see folks hadn't seen in years. Thank you for making this day special for Nas.
