📢 988 Lifeline is Working!

A study published in JAMA shows su***de deaths among adolescents and young adults has dropped 11% compared to projections since the launch of the 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline in 2022! This study shows that 988 is providing life-saving help to teens and families during moments of greatest need.

Family Services is so proud to operate the 988 Lifeline for Essex, Franklin, Berkshire and Hampden counties in MA. Every day, our Lifeline staff ensure calls are answered locally by trained counselors who understand our communities and available resources.

Our Amigos Mentoring Program continues to inspire curiosity, growth, and connection for our mentees and their families. Recent sessions have focused on building life skills and confidence - from a hands-on nutrition workshop with UMass Extension Nutrition Education Program, where participants explored healthy food choices and made their own parfaits, to a powerful storytelling experience centered on resilience and self-discovery through the book "Who Am I, From Seed to Splendor." The group also recently explored the MIT Museum, sparking creativity and curiosity through interactive exhibits. It’s been an exciting season of learning, reflection, and new experiences for everyone involved.

Our CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) program supports children involved in the court system by pairing them with trained, caring adult advocates. If you’re passionate about supporting children and families, check out these opportunities to get involved!

CASA Advocate Supervisor: Provide guidance and support to volunteer advocates working with children in the court system. Ideal for someone passionate about mentorship, leadership, and child advocacy.

CASA Administrative Support Specialist: Support the behind-the-scenes work of our CASA program through organization, coordination, and administrative support. A great fit for someone detail-oriented who wants to make an impact in a flexible role.
