Members of Lawrence General Hospital's trauma team advocated for the importance of STOP the BLEED education at the recent National Conference of State Legislatures summit in Boston. The group was proud to join the Society of Trauma Nurses in its push for Stop the Bleed kits in all public buildings.

Stop the Bleed is a national initiative to educate and empower non-medical professionals to identify life threatening bleeding and take action to help save lives while waiting for paramedics to arrive.

Lawrence General has been teaching Stop the Bleed classes in schools, fire and police departments, fish and game clubs, and student clubs locally since 2018. Interested in bringing this life saving class to your group? Call us at 978-683-4000, Ext. 2075.

The American College of Cardiology has recognized Lawrence General Hospital for its demonstrated commitment to comprehensive, high-quality cardiovascular care. Lawrence General Hospital was awarded the HeartCARE Center National Distinction of Excellence based on meeting accreditation criteria, and through their ongoing performance registry reporting.

This is the eighth consecutive year Lawrence General has earned an ACC HeartCARE Center distinction. In 2018, Lawrence General was one of the first four hospitals in the country to receive the HeartCARE distinction from the American College of Cardiology when the award was first established.

🚑 Lawrence General Hospital is now the second community in Massachusetts to provide life-saving whole blood transfusions in the field. This groundbreaking EMS capability ensures patients with severe blood loss get critical care even before reaching the hospital.

Thank you to The Eagle-Tribune and EMS1 for highlighting the work Lawrence General Hospital paramedics are doing to save lives throughout the Merrimack Valley through our whole blood transfusion program. As paramedic Ryan Mueller told The Eagle-Tribune, “The sooner a patient with a severe hemorrhage has blood product replaced, the better the chances are for survival ... Lawrence General Hospital is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $90,000 grant over the next three years through the Cummings Foundation’s $30 Million Grant Program. The grant will help us develop a new program that specifically supports prenatal and postpartum education and monitoring for Merrimack Valley-area mothers and babies.

“This grant supports the important work our teams do to care for the unique needs of women in our community,” says Diana Richardson, interim president and CEO at Lawrence General and Holy Family Hospitals.
