Spring is neck-and-shoulder season.
Wind externally.
Stress internally.
Both tighten the same tissues.
If you’re waking up with:
• A stiff neck
• Pain turning your head
• Shoulder tension that won’t stretch out
• Headaches creeping up from the base of your skull

In Chinese Medicine, wind invades the upper body first. Add laptop posture and pressure at work, and the Gallbladder channel locks down fast.

Heat helps.
A scarf helps.
Topicals help.
But regulation fixes the pattern.
Most people feel noticeable relief quickly — often within a session. And after a series? Your body is far less reactive to tight neck triggers.

If your neck is running your week, book your appointment or free 15-minute consult through the
link in bio. No reason to muscle through it.

Perimenopause is not your body failing. It is your body reorganizing.

In Chinese medicine we call this transition a woman’s Second Spring.

During this phase hormones fluctuate, metabolism shifts, and the nervous system becomes more sensitive to stress. Moxibustion is a traditional warming therapy that improves circulation, supports hormonal balance, and helps the body regulate through this transition.

In this small in-person workshop we will do a perimenopause hormone crash course, and learn simple moxa techniques you can safely practice at home to support your hormones, metabolism, and nervous system.

Perimenopause is not subtle.
It can feel like your body changed the rules overnight.

Hot flashes during meetings.
Night sweats disrupting sleep.
Rage that surprises you.
Breast tenderness.
Heavier periods.
Skipped periods.
Anxiety that wasn’t there before.

You’re still competent.
Still capable.
But everything costs more energy.

This is a neurological and hormonal transition.
And stress makes it louder.

Left unregulated, symptoms often escalate:
Sleep worsens.
Irritability increases.
Cycles become more erratic.

Chinese Medicine has supported women through this transition for thousands of years — not by suppressing symptoms, but by stabilizing the system underneath.

We regulate:
Hormones.
Nervous system tone.
Inflammatory load.
Sleep rhythm.

If this season is affecting your work, relationships, or sense of self, don’t wait for it to get worse.

Schedule a free 15-minute consultation.
Call (785) 856-0384 or book through the link in bio.

This transition can be steadier than you’ve been told.

If you relate to any of this or if you are a woman, period, this conversation is for you.

The Art of Self-Love Series continues this Thursday, March 12th from 6–7 pm with Women’s Spring Moxa for Optimizing Hormones. This is practical, hands-on support for your changing physiology.

Spots are limited. Click the link in our bio to reserve yours.

Common does not mean normal.
If your period means:
• Canceling plans
• Working through cramps
• Clotting
• Heavy bleeding
• Brain fog
• Snapping at people you care about
That’s not something you “inherit.”
Yes, fibroids.
Yes, endometriosis.
Yes, PCOS.
But underneath all of those is a regulatory pattern that can be treated.
Pain is not a personality trait.
It’s a signal.
Our treatments reduce inflammation, improve pelvic circulation, and regulate hormonal flow so
your cycle becomes predictable instead of disruptive.
You deserve to feel steady all month — not just functional for two weeks.

Hi friends,

If we haven’t officially met yet, I’m Shahida (also Shannon) — and I wanted to share a little more about me beyond the treatment room.

I wear a lot of hats… healer, acupuncturist, fertility guide, teacher, mama, gardener, seeker of Spirit, and lifelong student of the body + the unseen. I’ve spent years studying Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, fertility, hormones, and medical qi gong, but what really lights me up is helping people feel at home in their bodies again.

I’ve had the deep honor of supporting hundreds of families on their fertility journeys, helping balance hormones through every season of life, and teaching gentle, powerful tools so you can participate in your own healing.

Outside of the clinic, you’ll usually find me with my hands in the dirt growing herbs, making medicine, singing, dancing, traveling with my three radiant kids, soaking in hot springs, or communing with Spirit in whatever way feels alive in the moment!

Healing, to me, is not just about symptoms, it’s about remembering who you are and where you belong in this beautiful, cosmic tapestry of life.

Swipe through each slide to discover some very interesting (and maybe surprising) pieces of my life and heart.

I’m so grateful you’re here. If you're interested in booking with me or taking a class, click the link in the bio!

Happy Lunar New Year!!!

If you’re like me, you’re ready for the year of the Yin Wood Snake to be over. This past year has been about shedding old layers, letting go, and even endings. For some, it may have felt stagnant, like not quite having the “umph” to make the changes you knew were needed.

That energy is shifting.

Today we welcome the Yang Fire Horse. (If you’re curious how the zodiac animals came to be in their order, read the full story on our blog.)

The Yang Fire Horse carries the element of Fire, bringing excitement, movement, and transformation. Fire is connected to Joy, Passion, Courage, and Connection. This is a year to pursue what truly lights you up, to prioritize the people and experiences that expand your heart.

The Horse brings insight, expressiveness, spontaneity, and imagination. Out of balance, it can show up as scattered energy or over-excitement, so grounding practices will be essential.

Because both Fire and Horse connect to the Heart, this is an important year for Heart health. Rest well. Stay hydrated. Eat lighter meals with greens and bitter foods. Balance excitement with yin nourishment. Slow down. Listen deeply. Move beyond polarization.

There’s much more to share, but this is a beginning. Thank you to my teacher C.T. Holman for his insights into the year ahead.

Seth and I are here to support you through whatever shifts arise using the wisdom of Chinese medicine. We also have horse charms for good luck at Mud & Lotus and Lawrence Acupuncture.

May you be blessed with Prosperity, Happiness, and Peace.

Your s*x drive used to be there. Now? It's just... not.
Low libido. Difficulty with arousal. Lack of desire. Maybe even some performance anxiety on top of it all.
And it's not just about s*x—it's about feeling vital, alive, and connected to your body.

In Chinese Medicine, libido is governed by the Kidney system—the source of your
reproductive energy, hormones, and overall vitality.

When the Kidneys are depleted, s*xual energy is one of the first things to go.

This can happen due to:
● Chronic stress or burnout
● Hormonal shifts (perimenopause, menopause, low testosterone)
● Fatigue and overwork
● Emotional disconnect or relationship strain
We help restore s*xual vitality by:
● Nourishing Kidney essence
● Balancing hormones naturally
● Reducing stress and supporting the nervous system
● Reconnecting you with your body's natural vitality

You're allowed to want this back. Let's work on it together.

Introducing our newest class!

Ancient Wisdom for Beauty, Hormones & Longevity

A new 3-part educational series at Lawrence Acupuncture

Modern medicine now recognizes that beauty, hormones, and longevity are deeply connected to three core systems:
the nervous system, circulation, and hormonal regulation.

For thousands of years, Traditional Chinese Medicine developed self-care therapies to regulate these systems before disease and aging take hold.

This spring, we are offering a special three-part class series designed to teach women simple, clinically grounded self-care tools for:

Nervous system regulation

Hormonal balance & peri-menopause support

Pelvic vitality & s*xual health

Circulation & lymphatic drainage

Healthy aging & longevity

Each class blends ancient techniques with modern anatomy and physiology — practical tools you can use at home to complement acupuncture and medical care.

Class Schedule
Gua Sha Facial for Radiant Skin
February 19 | 6–7 PM

Women’s Spring Moxa for Optimizing Hormones
March 12 | 6–7 PM

Yoni Eggs for Pelvic Floor & Sexual Vitality
April 16 | 6–7 PM

Classes may be taken individually or as a full series.

Individual Class: $60 or all 3 Classes for $150. Recordings of each class are available for all participants and handouts will be provided.

Space is limited - reserve your spot now!

If you can't attend the class in person, you can still reserve a space and have the video and handouts emailed to you.

That low-level hum of anxiety that never quite goes away? The fear that something bad is about to happen, even when everything's fine?

In Chinese Medicine, fear is the emotion of the Kidney system—and winter is when it tends to surface most.

You might be feeling:
● Generalized anxiety with no clear trigger
● Panic attacks or heart palpitations
● Fear of failure, inadequacy, or the unknown
● A sense of being ungrounded or unsafe
● Difficulty making decisions (frozen by worry)
The darkness and cold of winter amplify this. Less light. More isolation. The Kidney system is already taxed by the season—and when it's depleted, fear takes over.

When the Kidney system is depleted or out of balance, fear takes over. It's not "all in your head"—it's a signal that your body's foundational energy needs support.
Acupuncture helps calm the nervous system, strengthen the Kidneys, and restore a sense of inner safety and groundedness.

Don't white-knuckle your way through the darkest season. Let's support your system
now, before winter deepens the anxiety.

You don't have to live in constant fight-or-flight.
