So excited to have this girl back hunting with us this year. She is into a little bit of everything, but loves to hunt too! For Arlie's sake, let's pray for cold weather!

Arlie Cooper is 8 years old and full of sass. Her parents are JT and Angel Cooper of Pelahatchie. She’s a student at MS School for the Blind and a member of the MS Wheelcats Basketball team. Her favorite color is hot pink and she is the reigning 2023 Little Miss Wheelchair Mississippi. One of her favorite ways to spend her time is singing and dancing, she loves to make people smile. She also enjoys public speaking and spending time outdoors as long as it doesn’t involve sweating. She is so excited to spend some time at Tanglewood and hopes to get a big one this year!

Our hunt this year is December 8th & 9th, with hunters & their families enjoying a couple of days, with housing and meals included, at Tanglewood! As you can imagine, making a hunting experience accessible to individuals with special needs relies on both servant hearted folks and financial resources. If you’d like to help, by supporting financially or by coming out to help, inbox us here or email myself (markbgddy@gmail.com) or Kiley Ham (kham@colonialheights.org) and we’ll send you information on sponsorship and volunteering. Visit the Camp Tanglewood website, camptanglewood.com, to learn more about this amazing place and all its ministry opportunities! Here are just a few of our sponsors for this year’s hunt, and more are coming on board each week!

Brendan & Kristopher Letchworth are 2 of our hunters and they are multi talented young men, who love ALL things outdoors and even lead out the Pucket Wolves football team for Friday Night Lights! These guys, their love for the Lord, people, and life in general, light up whatever room they enter. They love a good joke or prank and bring fun to a party. For these guys, their disability doesn’t mean inability and their handicaps do not control their lives. They live life to the fullest!

Brendan & Kristopher will be at our Outdoors Weekend at Tanglewood, December 8th & 9th, 2023. If you would like to sponsor one or more of our hunters, come and help WITH the hunt (cooking, dressing deer, investing in the families of hunters, etc.), please inbox me or comment with your contact info. What sets this hunting weekend apart is our ability to host families at the first class Tanglewood retreat center, providing the families a much needed respite from their hectic schedules while intentionally communicating their value and worth within the Body of Christ! Stay tuned for more info on this exciting weekend and our awesome hunters! Visit Tanglewood here, https://camptanglewood.com/

Hayden Perkins is 13 years old and has cerebral palsy. Hayden has hunted at Tanglewood for several years, missing out on the hunt a couple of years ago because of having surgery on both of his legs. Hayden has played baseball for Diamond Dreams in Philadelphia, MS for several years and like a lot of teenage guys, Hayden loves to play video games and also loves football. Hayden and his family thoroughly enjoy spending the weekend at Tanglewood. One of the highlights of our weekend last year was to see the look on Hayden’s face when he brought this nice buck to the skinning rack! I’m not sure who was most excited, Hayden, his guide, his Uncle Ira, or the rest of us!

Our hunt this year is December 8th & 9th, with hunters & their families enjoying a couple of days, with housing and meals included, at Tanglewood! Andrew Moody, 23 , is the son of Steve and Rose. He was born October 1999 and has Down's Syndrome, but has never let that diagnosis define him. He is a graduate of Neshoba Central High School of Philadelphia, Mississippi, class of 2018. His hobbies include hunting , fishing, dancing, swimming listening to his favorite music, and especially when he can do all of this with family and friends. He enjoys the hunts at TANGLEWOOD , he calls it “THE HOTEL IN THE WOODS.” One of our favorite memories from a hunt several years ago involved Andrew leading a crew in the Michael Jackson Thriller dance for a post-hunt celebration! When you meet Andrew you will be welcomed with a firm handshake or warm HUG, and probably a challenge to arm wrestle him…and he is STRONG, so be ready!

Lottie Hunsberger has hunted with us several years and LOVES the whole deer camp experience! Lottie is a student at Madison Middle School. She was adopted by Chad and Gloria Hunsburger in 2013. Lottie was born with Spina Bifida, a neurological birth defect that causes a variety of challenges. Those challenges do not hold her back! Even through 15 different surgeries Lottie remains a strong force and a bright light to those in her path. She places her faith and her confidence in Christ and serves Him faithfully each day. Lottie loves to spend time with her family and playing wheelchair basketball. As you can see in the picture, one of Alabama Crimson Tide mascot Big Al’s best days ever happened when Lottie attended a basketball camp at the University of Alabama!

Trust me, if you are around Ian Lee for even a short time, you will be smiling like Greg Shoemaker and I! Ian is 23 years old and works at Jake ‘s restaurant in Brandon. Go eat lunch at Jake’s and don’t miss out on Ian telling you about the specials, which he daily commits to memory…impressive! He also competes in several sports in Special Olympics, loves to play games on Xbox and enjoys a Nerf gun fight when the opportunity arises! Ian has hunted with us and his family has came out to Tanglewood the past few years. It seems as though we have infected Ian with the hunting bug! During our visit to Jakes this week, Ian initiated and engaged us in deer, turkey, and even wild hog hunting conversations. He loves it! Ian is one of the most encouraging, thoughtful, positive guys I know, always ready to engage in a conversation about his faith too. Ian always prays over the deer that are harvested, and is quick to celebrate with other hunters who harvest deer!

My apologies to anyone I know, or who you know, who has ever worked for Chick-fil-A, but the Brandon restaurant now has my FAVORITE employee ever! Haley Davis is one of our hunters. She’s been with us from the beginning and I’m so thankful to be part of she and her family’s story. Haley is a hero to many, including me! She worked hard in school, was a cheerleader and a favorite student at Northwest Rankin HS. Her mom and dad made a commitment that she’d participate in as much as possible, overcoming what some would consider insurmountable obstacles. I’m most thankful that she is a disciple of Jesus Christ, and I greatly value the Jesus focused conversations she and I have had over the years. AND, she’s a great hunter! She has a tradition of hunting in workout clothes, usually Nike Shorts! We have a great video of her celebration after harvesting her first buck deer during last year’s hunt!

She’ll see this post, so I’ve got to be honest! She’s one of the few who can out trash talk AND out eat me!😳 In all seriousness, our ministry to hunters like Haley and her family is what makes this a great outdoors ministry weekend to support or even serve with. Our hunt this year is December 8th & 9th, with hunters & their families enjoying a couple of days, with housing and meals included, at Tanglewood!
