Plan B = emergency contraception, not the abortion pill.

Plan B, also known as the morning after pill, is an emergency contraceptive designed to prevent pregnancy before it occurs. Plan B is not the same as the abortion pull. While the abortion pill is used to terminate an existing pregnancy, Plan B works by delaying ovulation and is most effective when taken as soon as possible after unprotected s*x. It is legal in every state and available over the counter, but not intended for regular birth control use.

If your period is late or you’ve already had a positive pregnancy test, emergency contraception like Plan B will not be effective. The next step would be to confirm if your pregnancy is viable and rule out conditions like an ectopic pregnancy or natural miscarriage.

A very faint line on a pregnancy test usually indicates that you're pregnant and in the early stages of your pregnancy. The strength of the line depends on the level of human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) in your urine. When you first become pregnant, these levels are low, so the line could be faint.

HCG needs time to build up in your body, and each day of early pregnancy, your body will create more hCG. As the weeks go on, you'll have more and more hCG in your body, which will make it more likely that a pregnancy test will show as positive.

If you have taken a pregnancy test at home, and are uncertain of the result, make an appointment for a free medical grade pregnancy test and/or sonogram with our team. Our nurses will be able to verify your results. And it is all free.
