My annual rebirth through fire, 🔥 such an honor each year to tend the dragon that is the traditional Japanese Anagama kiln right here at KU with a group of incredible potters. The truest prayer- months of making work, chopping wood, loading, stoking, unloading and dreaming together as one big fire family. And from the ashes, so many beautiful vessels emerged…
Our little front shop has handfuls of things I make and fire, some from this year’s anagama firing and some from other soda and gas firings. What true elemental magic medicine it is!! 🔥 🏺

In the Medicine Buddha’s realm, Tanaduk, every single substance is medicine. In the Tibetan highlands (second picture, herbs from Eastern Amdo) nearly every plant has a medicinal use, harvested precisely at certain moon times, by certain people, harnessing prayers that will feed towards the healing of others. The purity of the environment, the mind and hand of the harvester and the one who prepares the medicine are all vital to its ability to heal, as is in a huge part the willingness and openness of the patient. Cultivating an inner environment to support healing is a hugely empowering part of the process, with sacred agency.
