Audio-Reader was honored to provide audio description for several sold-out performances in December of Buddy the Elf: The Musical at the Coterie Theatre in Crown Center. For one especially festive show, we hosted a reception for our listeners that brought the magic of the theater to life in meaningful ways.

Guests received Buddy the Elf-themed gift bags, enjoyed a pre-show stage tour to feel and experience the set, and heard directly from the cast as they described their costumes and characters. Listeners Travis and Halley attended with their families - making it a memorable night for all.

It was a wonderful performance that celebrated arts accessibility and put everyone in the holiday spirit. Thank you to The Coterie and the incredible cast, as well as Audio-Reader's trained audio describer, for helping make this experience possible!

Another Staff Spotlight! 🙌✨Meet Nick!
"I’m Nick Carswell, Program Director for Audio-Reader. I’ve been working here for just about 10 years. I’m trained as a sound engineer and audio producer and have worked with digital media in radio, film and music for many years. I enjoy supporting Audio-Reader in finding new ways to serve our listeners, create engaging programs, respond to changes in information and technology, and foster independence with the folks we serve. I’m passionate about ensuring individuals with disabilities have the same access to news, information, technology as well as the arts and entertainment that enrich all our lives.

Outside of Audio-Reader, I do a lot with music and the arts. I play music with my band Carswell & Hope, and a few other fun projects. I’m the host of 105 Live, a Kansas music show on Kansas Public Radio, where I get to share some of the great music being made in and around Kansas. I’m also the founder and director of the Lawrence Music Alliance, which supports our music community through training, networking and a variety of programs. I’m from Ireland so I enjoy getting home to see family a couple of times a year, and never miss a chance to hop in the ocean to swim or surf! I’m also dad to two kiddos with my wife Hannah and don’t forget Jack the dog!"
