What once provided hours of entertainment for my kids may have just found a new fan . . . credit cards that go cha-ching, a speaker that announces the bargains, escalators, and an atm that speaks to you ... this little lover of pushing buttons and exploring anything electronic got swept up in "Mall Madness!" We had so much fun talking about where to go and what to buy on our shopping spree! 😀

I chose to use Connections in the name of my practice because I truly value how important our connections with others can be. Thirty years ago, these women became my support system as we all studied at the University of Cincinnati to become speech therapists, and though 600 miles may stand between us, that connection remains!

When you've been lucky enough to work with this sweet fella and his fantastic family for four years, you've got lots to smile about! I don't think we had a single session when he wasn't smiling back at me! Will miss all the fun we've had!

For 5 years, I've started my Saturday mornings with this sweet face and I can't imagine not getting to do so anymore, but he has more than earned the right to finally sleep in, lol! From an active 5 year old who literally bounced off the walls to an active 10 year old who bounces soccer balls off the walls . . (and earned a spot to train at a soccer academy in Barcelona for 2 weeks!), he has come so far and I am so proud of him!

I have the best job because I get to work with the best kids! This kiddo highlights one of the reasons I opened my private practice . . . he received Early Intervention services and the services offered by the school district in the midst of the pandemic weren't going to work out for him. We've had four years of fun, dedication, and laughter and he is so ready to rock the first grade! I'll miss you lots little Buddy!!

I always aim to make speech therapy fun and engaging but I especially love an excuse to make it extra special! Valentine's Day provided the perfect opportunity to bring in some hands-on experiential learning by making mini heart pizzas to go with our story, "I Love You . . and Cheese Pizza!" And the text message I received from a parent at the end of my day just warmed my heart and reminded me how going that extra mile is so worthwhile!

Great things happen when fun and creativity collide! The key to promoting communication is to make it motivating. You don't necessarily need a Santa blowing bubbles, some holiday surprises tossed around in the ball pit, or a magna-tile "gingerbread-inspired" house, but they elicited some wonderful communication today, from the "fireworks" on our house to the "snowbells" covering it and even going "snow swimming" in the pit! I loved the self-expression that resulted! 😍 💬 😊

I couldn't be more proud of this little peanut! She walked into my office almost 5 years ago, a new kindergartener whose speech was VERY hard to understand. I'll never forget her looking out my window and saying "iH wee! iH wee!" (My many failed attempts to guess were unsuccessful but she kept trying.) The next week we were talking about "Spring!" and as she gleefully looked up and said "I toH you, iH wee!" I finally realized that "wee" was "spring!" Gosh she has come a long way! It was bittersweet to say goodbye today but that freckled face and the sunshine she shares with the world will be with me always!
