Princeton Integrative Health

Princeton Integrative Health PIH takes a unique and customized approach to care that combines conventional and functional medicine

PIH is a new, family-owned and run integrative health / medicine practice, leveraging their extensive training and experience in both conventional and functional medicine to uncover the root cause of disease and dysfunction, identify true healing opportunities and co-create health with their patients. The father-daughter team is focused on turning the country’s current sick care system into one of true health care and, ultimately, self-care, through education, empowerment and encouragement.

“Just push through it” is some of the worst advice women’s bodies have ever been given. 🚨

Fatigue, mood swings, and brain fog are not personality flaws or signs that you need to try harder. They are your hormones asking for help.
When you chronically override your body’s signals, cortisol stays elevated, your adrenals become depleted, and your entire hormonal system pays the price. Biology doesn’t reward willpower — it responds to care.

If you’ve been white-knuckling your way through your days, that’s not strength. That’s a red flag worth paying attention to.
Your body isn’t failing you. It’s communicating with you. The question is — are you listening?

Here's what being hormonally balanced actually looks and feels like:

🔹 Energy that's consistent — not reliant on caffeine to start or wine to wind down 🔹 Mood that feels proportionate to your life — not like you're on a rollercoaster 🔹 Mental clarity — words come easily, focus holds, brain fog lifts 🔹 Sleep that's deep and restorative — you wake up feeling like you actually slept

If even one of these feels out of reach right now, your hormones may be asking for attention.

February is American Heart Month—a time to remember that heart health goes beyond physical fitness. It's about the daily commitment to nourishing, moving, and truly listening to what your body needs.

Small acts of care add up: staying hydrated, managing stress, getting quality sleep, eating foods that fuel you, and moving in ways that feel good.

Your body is your lifelong home. Treat it with the love it deserves. ❤️

We have some very happy news to share.

Many of you may remember Dr. Conny Garefino, DC (Dr. Conny). And if you do, you already know why we’re smiling as we write this.😊

Dr. Conny is officially back at Princeton Integrative Health.

She was with us several years ago, and her gentle, grounded approach made a lasting impression on so many of our patients. She is a family chiropractor with a special focus on pregnancy, pediatrics, and whole-family care, known for meeting each person exactly where they are.

Dr. Conny will be seeing patients on Wednesdays in our new office space at 133 Franklin Corner Road, Lawrenceville, NJ, with plans to expand her schedule as demand grows.

Whether you worked with her in the past or are meeting her for the first time, we’re confident you’ll feel the same sense of calm, trust, and care that she brings into every visit.

Appointments with Dr. Conny are now available, and we’d love to welcome you back, or introduce you, for the first time.

Call the office to schedule now! 609-403-3363.

These 5 hormones do a lot of the heavy lifting for mood, weight, and energy 👇

1. Insulin – the weight & energy regulator
What it does: Controls blood sugar and how your body stores fat.
When it’s off:
* Energy crashes
* Sugar cravings
* Easy weight gain (especially belly fat)
Support it by: Balanced meals (protein + fiber), strength training, not living on constant snacks.

2. Cortisol – the stress hormone
What it does: Helps you handle stress and stay alert.
When it’s off:
* Stubborn weight gain
* Anxiety, poor sleep
* Feeling “wired but tired”
Support it by: Sleep, stress management, not overdoing caffeine or extreme workouts.

3. Thyroid hormones (T3 & T4) – the metabolism drivers
What they do: Control how fast your body burns energy.
When they’re off:
* Fatigue
* Weight gain
* Brain fog, cold sensitivity
Support them by: Adequate calories, enough iodine/selenium, avoiding chronic dieting.

4. Leptin – the fullness hormone
What it does: Tells your brain you’ve eaten enough.
When it’s off (leptin resistance):
* Constant hunger
* Difficulty losing weight
* Feeling unsatisfied after meals
Support it by: Consistent meals, sleep, minimizing ultra-processed foods.

5. Serotonin – the mood & motivation stabilizer
What it does: Regulates mood, appetite, and sleep.
When it’s low:
* Low mood or irritability
* Carb cravings
* Poor sleep
Support it by: Sunlight, movement, gut health, and adequate protein.

Big picture:
These hormones don’t work alone—sleep, stress, nutrition, and movement affect all of them at once. That’s why quick fixes rarely stick. 🫶Need help learning more? Click the link 📱 in our bio to book a free discovery call today!
