Did you know that about 1.1 million people in the United States are living with Parkinson's disease (PD)? 🌷

🧠 This progressive brain disorder is perhaps most well known for causing tremors, but other symptoms include loss of vocal volume, sleep disruptions, stiffness, and balance issues, among others.

Thankfully, there are ways to improve Parkinson's symptoms! 😀 Our therapy team offers rehabilitation services to help improve mobility, range of motion, function, and speech for those living with PD. Call us to see how we can support you or your loved one.

What does Occupational Therapy look like❓

It looks like someone practicing how to button a shirt again. 👔 Rebuilding the strength and dexterity to hold a coffee cup. ☕ Rehearsing the motions to prepare a simple meal and learning to use a reacher to safely pick things up without bending 🫳.

During Occupational Therapy Month, we’re celebrating the amazing therapists who help our rehab patients rebuild confidence, independence, and the skills that make daily life meaningful. 🫶

💪 At Life Care Center of Lawrenceville, we love to turn "can't" into "can"! And Carol is one of our recent rehab graduates who shows the power of physical and occupational therapy.

When Carol arrived after a lumbar fracture, she was dependent in all of her mobility and self-care. She couldn't walk, get in or out of bed, get dressed, or even wheel herself in a wheelchair without total assistance. Enter PT and OT. Through skilled and targeted interventions, they worked with Carol to reach her goals. ✨

"Therapy at Life Care has been wonderful for a quicker recovery," Carol said. 💚

What does that recovery look like? Now she CAN walk, take care of her daily self-care tasks, balance, get in and out of bed, get around the house, and dress herself. Congratulations! 🙌

💬 "I came to Life Care after a fall, resulting in surgery. My goal was cane mobility as I had a stroke affecting my right side. My therapists, Sophia and Lyndsey, worked with my goal." ~ Stephen

Congratulations to Stephen! Not only is he walking again with a cane, but he has regained his independence in a whole bunch of other areas too! Physical and occupational therapy helped him regain function and strength, and now he can get in and out of bed, balance, manage his hygiene, get dressed, and more on his own!
