Job Description
Under the direct supervision of the Medical Director for medical functions the Dispensing Nurse measures, records and dispenses doses of methadone to patients in treatment for op**te addiction, reconciles methadone inventory. The LPN is primarily responsible for dispensing medication and delivering nursing care within scope of practice, which will ensure that patient's needs are met in accordance with professional standards of practice through physician orders.
Responsibilities and Duties
Sets up repipette for dosing and dispensing methadone.
Records doses dispensed on individual client dosing sheets and cumulative daily dispensing records.
Verifies patient identification to ensure that correct dosages are administered in accordance with governmental guidelines.
Prepares daily tally of methadone dispensed, including measuring and reconciling of methadone inventory and manual dispensing.
Assess patients before dosing, and again 30 minutes after dosing for new patients.
Records results on individual patient dosing sheet.
Prepares daily patient absentee report, Daily report, Huddle report, Daily Nursing report, monthly reports and other reports as requested.
Dispenses, prepares, and issues take-home dosages of Methadone.
Acknowledge Physician orders and Physician Assistant orders.
Collect random monthly urine samples for toxicology testing.
May oversee patient self-administration of other medications.
Assists in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of dispensing apparatus and clinic area.
Responds to inquiries made by patients in person or by telephone and makes and/or records inquiries of patients regarding their health needs.
Maintains professional and ethical behavior and attitude at all times.
FULL-TIME positions are available Hours: 5:15 am -- 1:15 pm M-F 5:30 am- 9:00 am Saturdays with rotation.
Position Requirements: (Minimum qualifications for the position)
Licensure/Certification/Registration: Satisfies the requirements of the Georgia State Board of Practical Nurse Examiners Current GA licensure as an LPN.
Current CPR certification.
Graduate of an accredited school preparing Licensed Practical Nurses.
Effective math, computer, communication skills; both oral and written.
Attire: Scrubs 6. *Phlebotomy skills a plus
