Signs of Abnormal Posture in Pre-Teens, Teens & Adults!!
Children (Ages 7-10):
Children in this age group are prone to spine misalignments due to falls during activities like sports and sedentary habits like prolonged TV watching and gaming. & Postural deviations may manifest as head, shoulder, or hip tilting. These different deviations are "signals" of an underlying problem but generally there won't be symptoms such as pain or discomfort related to these issues.
Pre-Teens and Teens:
Additional strains like heavy backpacks d and poor tech habits compound postural issues in this age group. Symptoms like neck tension and headaches may become more visible. Monitoring posture is crucial, with discomfort indicating a need for chiropractic assessment. Additionally, with teenagers, you may see the shoulders begin to roll forward and, when this happens, the head moves forward as well. Consider that the head is like a 6-10 pound bowling ball, o and you'll see that this can lead to a tremendous amount of strain to the neck and shoulders. A good rule of thumb when gauging your teen's posture is, that the ear & lobes should be directly over the shoulders.
Adulthood:
Postural issues from childhood can lead to chronic pain in adulthood. Severe problems like shoulder humps may increase fall risks due to lack of balance. Early detection and correction by a chiropractor are vital for long-term spinal health.
Summary:
Clearly the best defense against future problems is early detection. The earlier you catch the problem, the better chance that the problem can be corrected avoiding future complications. That's why it's important to have your children and teens screened.
