Today, we honor the life and legacy of Ms. Ruby Wilson, whose impact on Marie Detty and the youth we serve will never be forgotten.

From August 2, 1976 to June 21, 2017, she dedicated over 40 years to working in our youth shelter. During that time, she touched countless young lives with her kindness, patience, and unwavering care. So many of the youth who came through our doors found comfort, support, and encouragement because of her.

Her compassion made a lasting difference, and her legacy continues to live on in the hearts of those she helped and the staff who had the privilege of working alongside her.

Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her as they lay her to rest today. She will be deeply missed and always remembered.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month 💚

At Marie Detty Youth & Family Services, we believe mental health matters every day, for every person, at every age. This month is a reminder to check in with yourself and those around you, to listen without judgment, and to prioritize well-being.

Mental health is just as important as physical health. Whether it is managing stress, coping with challenges, or simply needing someone to talk to, support is available and seeking help is a sign of strength.

Let’s work together to break the stigma, start conversations, and build a community where everyone feels seen, heard, and supported.

If you or someone you know needs support, we are here. 💚

Yesterday, our team participated in Denim Day by wearing denim in support of survivors of sexual violence.

Denim Day is more than just what we wear. It is a powerful reminder that there is never an excuse for sexual assault. It began after a court case where a victim was blamed because of what she was wearing, sparking a global movement to stand against victim blaming.

By wearing denim, we stand in solidarity with survivors, raise awareness, and continue the conversation about respect, consent, and support.

We are proud to stand together and be part of a community that believes and supports survivors, today and every day.
