k Beaver Council Boy Scouts of America and the Paul Harris Fellow from Rotary International. Past board memberships include Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians, Black Beaver Council Boy Scouts of America, Lawton Camp Fire Girls, Lawton Rotary Club and Drug Busters of Oklahoma. In 1994, Dr. Swales founded Primary Vision Care Services, Inc., a privately owned group vision care benefits company. His concern for individuals not receiving eyecare due to financial reasons prompted him to create a vision benefits plan for employers, employees and the general public. The plan provides eye exams when needed with no co-pay and excellent coverage for any eyewear and contact lenses needed. The plan also provides for optometrists to be adequately compensated for services rendered. The PVCS plan is considered to be a Direct Care Plan by the Oklahoma Insurance Department. Dr. Swales chose to be an optometrist due to eye problems as a child. He is passionate about providing quality eye care for his patients and sharing the advantages of the vision benefit plan he authored.

What are Lignans? Lignans are polyphenolic compounds found in plants. Lignan precursors are found in a wide variety of plant-based foods, including seeds, whole grains, legumes, fruit, and vegetables. Flaxseeds are the richest dietary source of lignan precursors.

Lignan consumption, including total lignans, matairesinol, pinoresinol, and secoisolariciresinol, was associated with lower type 2 diabetes risk.
