Losing weight AND hair-HELP!!!

Seeing clumps of hair in the drain while on Ozempic or Mounjaro is alarming, but it’s often a physiological response called Telogen Effluvium, not a direct side effect of the drug itself.

I’m excited to join forces with weight loss specialist Dr. Rees Checketts () to tackle the intersection of metabolic medicine and skin health. We’re going to debunk the myths and give you a science-backed roadmap to losing the weight while keeping your hair.

Are you experiencing shedding on your weight loss journey? Drop a ✋ in the comments and we’ll answer your top questions in our next video.

I am loving seeing so many trusted sources on social media echoing the sentiment that quality skincare doesn’t have to be expensive. There are SO MANY good affordable products.

Let’s get to work investigating and learn together.

What brands or products should I start with?

I get a lot of free products so it’s fun to try new ones and learn about the differences between brands and what sets them apart.

I obviously don’t use all of these products every day, but I have tried them all.

In dermatology, we call the form of a product the “vehicle.” It’s the delivery system for the active ingredients, and choosing the wrong one is a common reason why a great ingredient fails to work.
1. Ointments: The heavy hitters. They are oil-based and highly occlusive. Great for deep repair, but “greasy.”
2. Creams: The balanced choice. A mix of oil and water that works for most skin types.
3. Lotions/Serums: The lightweights. Water-based and fast-absorbing. Perfect for daytime or oily skin.
4. Gels & Foams: Often overlooked! These are the go-to for acne-prone skin or hair-bearing areas.

I want to hear in the comments-What is your favorite product type/vehicle?

If you had $500 to spend on your skin right now, would you put it toward luxury skincare products or procedures?

Which is more likely to keep you looking fresh in 20 years?

**THE COLLAGEN QUEST: Left Hand vs. Right Hand.** 🧪🧴

I’m noticing the first signs of “crepey” skin on my hands—a clear signal that my natural collagen and elastin production is slowing down. So, I’ve decided to turn my own hands into a clinical study.

**1. The Chemical Reset:** One week ago, I performed a superficial Jessner’s peel on my LEFT hand only. You can see the active exfoliation of the epidermis happening right now. This isn’t a “failed” treatment; it’s a controlled shedding to reveal fresher skin underneath.

**2. The MultiFrax Challenge:** Moving forward, I’ll be treating my left hand with my MultiFrax laser to stimulate deep dermal remodeling while leaving the other as my “control” group.

**3. The Goal:** Real-world data. I want to see if we can visibly reverse texture changes and stimulate new collagen. I’ll be posting side-by-side updates as we go.

**If you had to choose: would you put your money toward a $300 ‘miracle’ cream or a single clinical laser treatments? Let’s talk value in the comments! 👇**

Stop buying skincare based on a TikTok filter

I’m a board-certified dermatologist and skincare skeptic and I’m not convinced “luxury” skincare products are worth the money.
I’m going on a quest to find out what is marketing gimmick and what is actually worth your hard-earned money. From $200 serums to grocery store staples-we’re looking at the research, not the hype.
Follow along if you want to save money and actually see results.
