I get a lot of free products so it’s fun to try new ones and learn about the differences between brands and what sets them apart.
I obviously don’t use all of these products every day, but I have tried them all.
In dermatology, we call the form of a product the “vehicle.” It’s the delivery system for the active ingredients, and choosing the wrong one is a common reason why a great ingredient fails to work.
1. Ointments: The heavy hitters. They are oil-based and highly occlusive. Great for deep repair, but “greasy.”
2. Creams: The balanced choice. A mix of oil and water that works for most skin types.
3. Lotions/Serums: The lightweights. Water-based and fast-absorbing. Perfect for daytime or oily skin.
4. Gels & Foams: Often overlooked! These are the go-to for acne-prone skin or hair-bearing areas.
I want to hear in the comments-What is your favorite product type/vehicle?
