Giving judges the power to revoke medical cannabis cards is a serious overreach that mirrors the broader fight for personal autonomy we see in issues like women’s rights. This isn’t just about cannabis—it’s about government control over people’s medical choices. Medical cannabis is recommended by licensed doctors for legitimate health conditions, and no court should have the authority to override that recommendation. Patients deserve the right to make informed health decisions with their doctors, not to have their treatment disrupted by a judge’s personal beliefs or outdated perceptions about cannabis.
For those with a history of substance use, denying access to medical cannabis is especially harmful. Many have turned to substances in the past to self-medicate, and cannabis now offers a legal, doctor-recommended path to manage their health in a safe and structured way. Penalizing them based on stigma, rather than science, is not only unfair—it discourages transparency in healthcare and drives patients away from seeking open, honest treatment.
This policy isn’t just about cannabis; it’s a slippery slope toward government interference in all healthcare choices. Allowing courts to interfere with doctor-recommended treatments risks setting a precedent that could erode personal health freedoms across the board. Without evidence that this policy will improve safety or outcomes, it feels like a step backward—one that undermines patients’ rights to safe, effective treatment simply because of someone else’s judgment.
This program is struggling. They certainly don't need patients leaving the program they need an influx of monthly consumers.
Remember, this is about transparency, so I’ll be listening in. I hope you have a chance to join the live meeting, attend in person, or catch the recording later. I know the timing isn’t ideal, but you can always listen in with headphones on mute.
