At our next meeting on February 21, respected member and longtime Le Mars resident JoAnn Schleis will give a compelling presentation on her recent sentimental journey to Italy’s Anzio. Her father, Richard N. Skinner, participated in the Allies forces 1944 landing there during World War II. He served as a medic with the U.S. Army “Thunderbird” 45th and the 157th Infantry. Her talk will include photos and riveting details of her dad’s letters to her mom then. The meeting will start at 1:30 PM.

On Saturday, December 20, at 1:30 PM, the annual Christmas meeting will be held in the lobby of the museum's gymnasium. Members will share homemade holiday treats and memories of Christmas Eves past. The public is cordially invited to attend this free event.

At the Saturday, November 15th meeting, co-vice president and history buff Joan M Thomas will talk about the art and value of writing an obituary. The meeting starts at 1:30 in the Plymouth County Historical Museum's fourth-floor study hall. Thomas is seen here during her 2022 visit to Ellis Island.

On October 18, at the NWIGS meeting, Ray Scott will give a presentation titled "The Adventures of Finding a Family's Life Through a Tombstone. He will detail his Edmonds family history, including that of an Edmonds house in Marcus.
