Harvesting for Healthcare
This fall, any harvested or stored bushels of grain are eligible to be donated to the Harvest for Your Healthcare program of the Floyd Valley Foundation. By turning their bushels into charitable contributions, farmers can help Floyd Valley Healthcare continue to care for Plymouth County patients for generations to come.
Making a donation of grain is an easy way for farmers to make a contribution to the Foundation and projects with Floyd Valley Healthcare. Contact The Foundation about your intentions, and then instruct your elevator about gifting grain to Floyd Valley Foundation account. The elevator staff should then provide you a receipt for the donated grain. The Foundation then will sell grain, and the proceeds will come back to assist in the Emergency Department Renovation project.
To continue with Foundation’s goal of raising funds for the Emergency Department renovation, gifting grain to the Floyd Valley Foundation is another way for farmers to make a meaningful impact in the Floyd Valley Foundation and Floyd Valley Healthcare patient programs and projects, – as well as receive tax benefits. By donating grain at a participating local elevator, farmers may avoid federal and state income taxes as well as self- employment taxes on that gift. They may also deduct input costs.
For more information about making a gift of grain and a list of elevators accepting donated grain for the Floyd Valley Foundation, farmers can contact Foundation Manager, Amy Harnack at 712-546-3348 or amy.harnack@floydvalley.org.
