I figured it was time to properly introduce myself for all the new faces here!

I’m Katie — the face behind Treasured Hands Massage, the cozy lavender room, and probably the person reminding you to unclench your jaw and breathe. šŸ˜‰

I’ve been a licensed massage therapist since 2017, and over time I became deeply drawn to the connection between the body, stress, emotions, and the nervous system.

To me, massage is about more than relaxation. It’s about creating a safe space where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves, and finally let their body exhale.

I specialize in relaxation-focused bodywork with a growing focus on nervous system regulation, fascia work, and somatic/emotional release techniques — always at a pace that feels safe and grounding for the client.

I’m so grateful for every person who trusts me with their care and healing journey. šŸ¤

I used to believe ā€œno pain, no gainā€ too.

When I first started massage, I thought the deeper the pressure, the better the results.

But after studying the nervous system and fascia, I realized something important…

If a body feels threatened, it braces.
And when it braces, it resists depth.

When we work with the nervous system first — allowing the body to feel safe — the tissue actually lets me in deeper on its own.

No forcing.
No fighting.
Just real release.

Depth isn’t about how hard I push.
It’s about what your body can safely receive. šŸ¤

You don’t have to earn rest.
You don’t have to justify slowing down.

because same.

I used to think it was just being tired or stressed…
but really it was my body being stuck in go mode for way too long

that constant tension in your shoulders
feeling like you can’t fully relax
being exhausted but your mind won’t shut off

your body isn’t being dramatic… it’s trying to protect you

this is exactly why I’ve been so drawn to somatic work lately

because it’s different than a regular massage…
we’re not just working on the muscles, we’re actually working with your nervous system and creating space for your body to fully let go

Sometimes during a session…
your body doesn’t just relax — it releases.
That can look like:
• feeling emotional
• tears coming up
• a deep breath you didn’t realize you were holding
• your body finally softening
And I want you to know… this is completely normal šŸ¤
Your body stores more than just physical tension.
When it finally feels safe enough to let go, it can come out in different ways.
Nothing is ā€œwrongā€ with you if this happens.
Your body is doing exactly what it’s meant to do.
You are always in control during your session, and everything is welcomed at your pace.
✨ This is what we call a somatic release — and it can be incredibly healing.

Most of us move through the day completely disconnected from our body

until it starts yelling at us.

But your body is always communicating with you —

What is a Somatic Release?

You might hear the word somatic and think it sounds complicated, but it’s actually pretty simple.

Somatic simply means relating to the body.

Our bodies experience everything we go through in life — stress, emotions, injuries, long work days, and everyday pressures.

Sometimes those experiences don’t just disappear.
They can get stored in the body as tight muscles, shallow breathing, headaches, or constant tension.

A somatic release happens when the body finally lets go of some of that stored stress.

This can show up as:
• muscles softening
• deeper breathing
• warmth or tingling in the body
• feeling deeply relaxed
• sometimes even emotional release

Nothing is forced. The body releases when it feels safe enough to do so.

Traditional massage focuses mainly on muscles.
Somatic work also supports the nervous system, helping the body recognize that it’s safe to relax and let go.

The body is incredibly intelligent — sometimes it just needs the right support.

Your body adapts to stress.
It braces.
It tightens.
It holds.

At first, it whispers —
tight shoulders, shallow breathing, fatigue.

When we ignore those signals, the nervous system stays in protection mode.
Over time that can look like:
• Chronic tension
• Headaches
• Low back pain
• Trouble sleeping
• Feeling constantly ā€œonā€

And no — it’s not just ā€œgetting older.ā€

Yes, our bodies change with age.
But persistent tension and pain aren’t something you’re simply supposed to accept.

Often, it’s a nervous system that hasn’t felt safe enough to soften.

Not because you’re weak.
Not because you’re broken.
But because your body has been trying to protect you.

You don’t have to wait until it’s screaming.

You deserve a space where your body can finally exhale.
