ANNOUNCEMENT!

Starting SEPTEMBER 15,2025

I am changing the way I charge for travel fee. I have kept track this year since being full time of mileage, gas, maintenance on my car. In 18 months I’ve put 42,000 miles on 🫣 this means I see the gas station a lot, am onto my 3rd set of tires by winter, lots of oil changed and frankly will need a new car faster than usual! Not to mention the time I put in behind the wheel.

After adding it up together I have sadly found I am in the negative for the cost vs. what I’ve been charging so unfortunately I do need to change this. I haven’t changed this fee since I started my business in 2020 and things continuously go up.

Current fee was 30 miles free (each way) and .50 a mile (each way so $1 a mile)

Going forward there will be no free mileage and it will be .75 cents a mile instead of $1 (.50 each way). So it’s only going to go up a little to keep it reasonable but cover my expenses and getting rid of the free mileage is the best approach to helping fill the gaps.

I do apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I will still do my best to split stops nearby. ☺️ I hope my explanation can be understood!

My brain has thoughts 💭

In order to go fast, we must first master going slow.

I want to add to that.. I think a part of performance horses issues with getting sore is our timeline. Humans are not the most patient people and we strive for the instant gratification. From a biomechanical standpoint there is ALOT that goes into making a barrel run, jumping a course, completing a dressage test. What if when we do these things not only do we consider if the horse is mentally and trainability there.. but also physically?

If you’ve been doing ground poles and decide one day to set up a small jump and your horse does really well.. so you set up a few more and start doing that everyday, do we take into account of the physical demand JUMP that is from ground pole work? The amount of effort and body wear?

For barrel horses (which I relate to really well, since it’s my discipline of choice) if our horse is loping a nice pattern for a month or so and we start asking for speed and they do well, so we think it’s time to start doing that regularly, are they physically ready for that?

I guess my point is I feel like a lot of horses are physically pushed faster before taking into consideration how important a slow and gradual increase of workload is. Even if it’s off the “pattern”, still conditioning those maneuvers to get faster, effective and EFFICIENT movement you are conditioning the muscles, tendons, ligaments, fast twitch muscles and stamina also.

What happens when a horse is pushed faster than physically ready? They start to cheat. They take the easy path, they misuse muscles and misuse their body and we generate soreness. Of course a lot goes into this but it’s a way to look at our animals and give grace.

I like to think of barrel futurity trainers who do it well and do it right, do you ever wonder how their horses lay down the same consistent solid pattern and usually can have good successful years? They spent a year or more bringing that horse along slow and I’m sure everyday they ask themselves “Is this horse ready? Physically, mentally, and emotionally?” They have generated muscle memory and HEALTH. I even think this is true for our finished horses! Rushing the conditioning process or not taking it seriously.

I’m a big girlie on conditioning but I’m an even bigger girlie on conditioning with PURPOSE and a plan.

Which leads me to my next goal.. I’ve got an idea 💡 😉

Equine massage.. is it really all that?

If you question this, I would go get a massage for yourself and tell me how you feel during and after it!

Besides that, there are many beneficial health effects that come from massage or as we say, bodywork!

Muscles attach to bone. They are what hold the bone in place, along with the help of tendons and ligaments. When a muscle is compromised, it will directly effect the integrity of the bone.. long term negligence of muscle health can result in injury, loss of flexibility, range of motion and cause instability.

Ever get chiropractic work and then wonder why a few days later you feel the same or it “didn’t stick”? Muscles can be part of the blame.

If a muscle is restricted and causing lack of movement, it will act like it is a joint or bone issue, so don’t sleep on massage!

💡increase circulation, range of motion, flexibility and mobility of muscles.
💡addresses fascia adhesions to improve the elasticity of the muscles.
💡 stress relief and supports natural nervous system response
💡 relaxing and encouraging lymphatic drainage and toxin release
💡 incorporating energy meridians and pressure points to stimulate the body to release tension
💡 improves posture and gait

Performance horses should be worked on regularly, at least once monthly. This is a great complimentary non-invasive therapy to accommodate veterinary and chiropractic care!

The effectiveness of Electro-Acuscope and Myopulse relies heavily on the proper tools and protocols being followed. Every session with me I am using the highest quality tested equipment that is on the market today. This includes stainless steel electrodes, hand held probes, non-metallic tape (duck tape 🚫), and Equine tissue specific conductive gel.

Using anything else alters the microcurrent. It spikes the current which then makes it no longer microcurrent and it alters the ability to pe*****te beyond the outermost dead skin cells which effects your treatments traveling capabilities, your digital readings and the overall effectiveness of the treatment.

Below I will link the comments the study done on comparing different gels used. The more you know, the more you can make informed decisions!

“What a privilege it is to be tired in the pursuit of your dreams”.

I was looking at the schedule this evening with a deep sigh to my husband “I just don’t know where to fit them all, it’s such a stressful yet rewarding situation.”

I once prayed for the full time workload. I once prayed for the relationships I have built. I once prayed to be the person horse owners can trust and lean to. I once prayed for the full rehabilitation stalls and vet referrals. I once prayed for all of this.. and here it is. Building slowly but strong.

This is a large thanks and deep gratitude for all people in my life who make it possible for me to do what I love. It is you I owe it to. ❤️

Let’s chat about nutrition 🥗

Often in the performance world we see a lot of horses on really high fat and protein diets for the calorie demand we expect of them but are we paying enough attention to the ingredients?
Are they natural or synthetic?
Are their fillers and GMO products?
Is there enough vitamin and mineral profile?
What is the sugar and starch percentage?

It’s been getting more and more popular to feed forage based diet and yes it is definitely ideal BUT it’s not always for everyone. Some horses just simply won’t eat it, it’s not enough calories, or it’s not time or money feasible.

The most important tips I can give ⬇️
⚪️ Less is more, if you have to feed alot rethink this and ask yourself “why is the gut not processing this”
⚪️ Try to feed the cleanest options you get access too.. ❗️READ the ingredients and Google them if you don’t know. Watch out for by- products, fillers and junk.❗️
⚪️ No grain or feed will outbeat quality hay- if your horse can eat the best hay the world has to offer, make that first. Some IR or metabolic horses need the crappiest hay one can find, and that’s okay for THEM.
⚪️ Feed the recommended amount. If this feed recommends 6-8 pounds for a active performance horse, if you find you can’t feed that much due to an easy keeper, then you need to supplement with a balancer or vitamin mineral supplement on top. If they are not getting the recommended amounts they will become deficient and you will have issues down the road. You are not just feeding the pounds for calories, you’re also feeding it to replace the vitamins and minerals levels needed to support a performance horse.
⚪️ Watch adding too many supplements on top of a complete feed or balancer, you can throw off levels and send horses into toxicity which then will also create issues and imbalances.
⚪️ Work with a nutritionist, use google, listen to podcast, read labels and take the time to compare. I cannot begin to tell you how much time I go looking into supplements and diet programs to try to figure out the best bang for the buck and the best quality.

If you are looking for a more natural route to ditch the use of regular medications, I encourage you to look into Yucc' It Up. Daryle Anne is wonderful and she does 1:1 nutrition consultations.

I have many favorites of hers but right now the yucca extract has been a staple in tackling many issues and keeping my performance horse healthy, sound and happy. ❤️

One of the best pieces of advice I can give anyone as a professional who works on horses full time and sees a lot of things..

Do not wait until your horse has fallen apart to seek out professional help. There is so much value in prevention.. or you will pay for it later.

Getting our horses on a good routine with a bodyworker or therapist prior to issues surfacing can be critical.

They are more likely to feel things, spot things, hear things and be able to piece together what may be going on far faster than it can be spotted after the damage is done.

Open communication and keeping a bodyworker in the loop of all that’s being done and what is next is upmost importance. 🎯

Also adding to this, regularly scheduled vet work before you think something is needed is also very helpful.. I like my horses to be seen every 8-12 weeks even if I think they are feeling really good and not showing any signs, because even I have limits, I cannot diagnose and I might miss something a vet can and will pick up easily! We are a team! 💯

Travel tip!

Have you ever considered how much work it takes for your horse to stand and stabilize themselves in a trailer?
They have to use their muscles to keep themselves upright as we travel down the road. A general rule of thumb I keep in mind is however many hours in the trailer, is how many hours we should be allowing recovery before asking for our show or run. Ex: 3 hours to a barrel race = 3 hours relaxing at the trailer or in stall before I run.

Especially consider when running on lasix, to allow your horse to hydrate after a trailer ride before medication. Hydration is critical for overall health but especially muscle health so you don’t get complications (ie. Tie up, sore muscles, etc). The same goes for after a run! We all want to get home as fast as possible. Make sure your horse is cooled down and has drank before loading up to get home!

It is farrier appreciation week!

Farriers are often an under appreciated part of our horses care and it should be the opposite! We have all heard the term “No hoof, no horse” but do we take that as seriously as we should?

As a bodyworker the first thing I will note is your horses feet because they effect how our horses move, their posture, their stride and their overall comfort. Their feet effect EVERYTHING. If your horse has terrible feet angles and all their pain is coming from that, nothing anyone does is going to solve the issues long term. A qualified farrier is a MUST.

A lot of various things go into a good balanced foot and as a horse owner it’s our responsibility to work with our horses needs and our farriers suggestions. Farrier care is one thing you should NOT cheap out on. The length a horse should be done varies but at a MINIMUM, every 6 weeks. Personally, I have a horse that needs reset every 4 weeks, and I have some that can do 6 weeks.

Every additional 1 CENTIMETER, not inches, CM! Of toe length puts approximately 50 additional kilometers of force on horses tendons. That then travels up the body and generates issues.

I am grateful to know some really great farriers and get to learn from them. They are so willing to answer questions and I geek out on anything horses so it’s right up my alley! Don’t be afraid to ask questions and learn something!

Thank your farrier extra this week. 😘

Continuous education 🧠

As a professional and simply a horse owner that wants to be proactive and up to date with the times continually improving education is non-negotiable. I spend an average of 15/20 hours in my car a week traveling to clients, so podcasts are my go to. You can learn so much by listening!

Here are some of my favorites below! The best part about life is we are always continuously learning, bad or good, but always a lesson. 💞
