June 24th was Changing of the Guard as our club begins a new year. President Nate Warden handed over the gavel to new President Cheryl Amundson. Thanks, Nate, for a great year! Congratulations to Cheryl for accepting this new leadership role. Long-time Rotary member Newell Krogmann and Assistant District Governor Ann Staloch assisted in the peaceful transfer of power. About 35 Rotarians and family members enjoyed a wagon ride and dinner at the Ney Nature Center on a beautiful evening.

We were very fortunate at this week’s meeting to hear from Virginia Miller, wife of Rotarian John A Miller, about being diagnoised with polio at age 5! Soon after she was dianoised, 2 of her other siblings were also diagnoised. Virginia had to spend a month in the hospital and has had 3 surgeries thoughout her life related to polio. She was “Covergirl” of the magazine where she was schooled and received physical therapy. Rotary International has remained instrumental in the fight to irradicate polio worldwide! Our club has supported and even joined in these efforts with Rotarian Ruth Vortherms, who several years ago, headed to Africa to administer the vaccinations! Thank you Virginia for your sharing your experiences!
