Hi everyone! We've been quietly working behind the scenes to provide educational opportunities for our community.

From sharing our mission at local grocery stores to distributing swimsuits, hosting CPR classes, and partnering with the Lead Volunteer Fire Department, we're committed to making a positive impact.

Cardiac arrest can strike anyone, anywhere, regardless of age, health, or circumstance, often without warning. It's a life-threatening emergency that requires immediate action to save lives. That's why we've added a PRESTAN Child manikin to our training equipment, complementing our adult and infant manikins. This allows us to simulate a wide range of real-world scenarios, ensuring participants are prepared for emergencies involving people of all ages. Our mission is to empower our community with the confidence and skills to perform high-quality CPR in a crisis. By providing hands-on training with realistic scenarios, we aim to equip individuals with the knowledge and muscle memory needed to act swiftly and effectively, potentially making the difference between life and death.

Just kidding! But we did get two more PRESTAN Infant CPR Manikins to add to our supplies.

Cardiac Arrest does not discriminate and it can happen to anyone at anytime, which is why we feel it's important to teach Adult and Infant CPR.

Around this time last year, after all of our grief, guilt, and negative thoughts had subsided, we realized that our baby girl was happy, healthy, and still here.

It took a long time to get over all of our various feelings, and it was very difficult to understand. What had happened? Why had it happened? How had it happened? There were many unanswered questions for us. But we did have one answer, and that answer was our family was still whole. And we were very, incredibly, infinitely grateful for that.

We decided that it was time to take our opportunity to tell our story, explain our miracle, and turn it into a mission. So the brain trust started to come together with thoughts of improving this world, even in the smallest singular lessons. We were going to do that.

The Lead Volunteer Fire Department was essentially our first sponsor in so many ways. Without the training that Taylor had received from the Lead Volunteer Fire Department, it's a simple fact: there's a good chance that our little girl wouldn't be here. So when we decided that part of our mission was going to be teaching CPR to the everyday person at little to no expense, the Lead Volunteer Fire Department was willing to pay for the instructor certification course, and they did. Not only that, but they were and still are willing to share their space so that we can tell our story, share our mission, and teach others a life-saving skill.

Here we are one year later, and the Lead Volunteer Fire Department is still continuing their support of us and our mission. So as we celebrate America's birthday today, be on the lookout for Lead Squad 7 as they support our mission by pulling our Octavia's Promise float in today's Lead and Deadwood 4th of July Parades.

We can't wait to see all of you!

Who's ready to celebrate?!?

2025 has been a remarkable year for Octavia's Promise!

🩱We've given out over 100 pink swimsuits to youth in our community at the Deadwood Rec. Center and Iron Creek Lake.

❤️ We've taught 8 different Life-Saving CPR classes to many different individuals, all from different walks of life.

💜 And - We've continued to share our story in the hopes of leaving a positive impact on those around us.

So in just a few days, be on the look-out for an Octavia's Promise Float in the Lead and Deadwood 4th of July Parades! 🎆🎇🎆🎇

We'll be decorating on Thursday night and placing some finishing touches Friday morning and early afternoon if anyone would like to help us share our message, and obviously join us during the parades spreading joy and celebrating!

The Ballert Clan visited our favorite summer-time place today. Naturally the Ballert Clan kids were sporting our now what I'd say, 'Signature Pink Swimsuits' and once again they proved their worth as the visibility in the water is unmatched.

While we were enjoying our time at Iron Creek Lake - we dropped off 20 of our swimsuits for their amazing general store to give to kids if they need one while visiting the crisp Black Hills waters. We love to share our story with everyone and continue to be advocates for safe swimming.

Iron Creek Lake is truly a gem.
