🐾(P)update! The 3 puppies were successfully delivered by C-section this morning. All three are males! Momma and babies are doing well, photo in comments 💙💙💙

This beautiful momma visited us today and we confirmed on radiographs she is expecting 3 puppies very soon (can you spot them on the x-ray?) Because she is a French Bulldog, we’ll be performing a c-section to hopefully avoid any birthing complications. Her owner shared the photo of the proud papa- now we’re wondering just what these little pups will look like- stay tuned for pictures when they are delivered! 🐾🐶

🐾📲 You may have heard of “iPad kids” but what about “iPad dogs”?!? This sweet girl was so excited about watching 😸 cat videos on YouTube, her Mom told us it was the best way to keep her calm and distracted for her vaccines. We have never seen a dog do this and thought it was super cute and funny! Anyone else have a pet that does this?!

Rabies is still a threat to animals and humans, is your pet up to date on their Rabies vaccination?

Today is and this year's theme is "Act Now: You, Me Community,” marking the first time in its 19-year history that the theme does not include the word "rabies," showing how well-established this movement has become. Whether you are an individual, part of an organization, or a decision-maker, the time to act is today. Here are some key takeaways from our "Rabies in the U.S." infographic.
🔵 In 2023, rabid animals in the U.S. totaled 3,760 - an increase of 5.1% from 3,579 in 2022.
🦇 Bats were the most frequently reported rabid animal in the U.S. in 2023. Over 1/3 of animal rabies cases in the U.S. in 2023 were bats.

September is recognized as Pain Awareness Month in both humans and animals, and it’s the perfect reminder to pause and ask ourselves:

Could my pet be living with pain that I haven’t noticed?

Your pet may be an expert at hiding discomfort. Subtle changes—like moving a little slower, hesitating to jump on the couch, or being less playful—can often be signs of pain. Recognizing these signs early can make all the difference in helping your pet stay active, happy, and comfortable.

A team of veterinarians at "CARE" (Canine Arthritis Resources and Education) have put together information on recognizing pain in animals and the options available for treatment. This site is focused on canine pain, but many concepts apply to our feline friends as well.

PSA- Although we aren’t aware of any cases of H5N1 causing illness/death in cats or humans in Colorado, we wanted to share this information involving a cat in California and certain lots of RAWR Raw Cat Food Chicken Eats. Click the link to read the full article, including symptoms to be aware of in cats and ways to avoid human exposure. Cases in dogs usually present with mild clinical signs and low mortality compared to cats.
