📢🚨 Milestone Achievement 🚨📢

In November 2025, Leadwood Fire Protection District will recognize an extraordinary achievement as Chief Lewis marks 40 years of service in the fire service.

Since beginning his career in 1985, Chief Lewis has been an integral part of our organization, guiding LFPD through significant developments and ensuring the continued growth and professionalism of the district. His leadership, dedication, and commitment to the community have been instrumental in shaping the department into what it is today.

The most recent issue of the Firefighter Association of Missouri (FFAM) magazine features an article highlighting Chief Lewis’ journey and contributions over the past four decades. (Read the photos below)

We are honored to serve under Chief Lewis’ leadership and proud to celebrate this remarkable milestone in his career. 👨🏻‍🚒

Teamwork with multiple agency’s always makes for smooth work on an emergency scene. We are always thankful to be able to work with some of the best every day!

Big thanks to ARCH Air Medical- Sullivan Base crew, Leadwood Fire Protection District, and the St. Francois County Sheriff's Department for the outstanding teamwork today. Every agency played a vital role and worked side by side to make sure our patient received the care they needed and got to the right destination.

We’re grateful for the strong partnerships we have here in St. Francois County. When fire, law enforcement, air ambulances, and our ambulance crews come together, it shows what true collaboration can do for the people we serve.

Tonight, members of the Leadwood Fire Protection District trained on drafting techniques.

Drafting is the process of pulling water from a static source—such as a pond, lake, or portable tank—when fire hydrants aren’t available. This skill is especially important in rural areas (like ours), where firefighters often rely on these methods to supply water during structure or brush fires.

Regular training ensures our crews stay efficient and prepared! 🚒

Today marks the anniversary of one of the darkest days in American history. On September 11, 2001, our nation changed forever. Nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken that day. Among those lost were 343 firefighters, 23 police officers, and 37 port authority officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while answering the call to save others.

For those in the fire service, the memory of 9/11 carries a weight that words can hardly describe. We remember the courage of the first responders who rushed into the Twin Towers without hesitation, fully aware of the dangers but unwilling to leave anyone behind. Their bravery and sacrifice serve as a constant reminder of the risks every firefighter accepts when duty calls.

As we honor the fallen, may we also recommit ourselves to living with the same courage and compassion they showed. Let us never take for granted the freedoms we enjoy or the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting them.

🕯️ We will never forget.
