Happy New Year from the Leadwood Fire Protection District! As we welcome 2026, we want to take a moment to sincerely thank our community for your unwavering support throughout 2025. Your encouragement, trust, and partnership mean more to us than words can express.

We would also like to recognize the incredible dedication of our volunteers—and especially the families who support them. The selfless service our volunteers provide would not be possible without the understanding, patience, and sacrifice of their loved ones.

As we move into 2026, our commitment remains strong. We look forward to continued success, training hard, and being there whenever our community needs us.

Here’s to a safe, healthy, and prosperous New Year for all!

This evening, Leadwood Fire Protection District spent our training night at the West County R-IV Schools. Our personnel conducted a full walk-through of all buildings, including the new elementary addition, to identify and map gas, water, and electrical shutoffs.

While inside, crews also located all exits, AEDs, Stop the Bleed kits, First Aid kits, and Dechokers, ensuring everything is documented on our department copies of the school maps.

This type of training is known as pre-planning. It allows our firefighters to become familiar with the layout of the buildings so we can respond quickly and effectively in the event of an emergency.

Thank you to Superintendent Rawson and Maintenance Supervisor Webb for working with us on this important training!

With frigid temperatures coming in this weekend, it’s a great time to talk about space heater safety!

SPACE HEATER SAFETY 101:
• Keep heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn
• Plug directly into the wall outlet — no extension cords or power strips
• Never leave a heater unattended or running while you sleep
• Place on a flat, stable surface where kids & pets can’t knock it over
• Make sure your heater has an automatic shut-off feature
• Don’t use heaters to dry clothes or wet items
• Always turn it off and unplug when not in use

Stay warm, stay safe! 🥶
