Join us in welcoming Dr. David Pulley to our practice!

Dr. David Pulley “Dr. Dave” earned his bachelor’s in psychology from Howard University in DC and obtained both his Master’s and Doctorate from Chestnut Hill College in PA. His Doctorate degree is in Clinical Psychology with a concentration in Marriage and Family Therapy and a specialization in the subject of Soul Mates. As a result, he is known as an expert on soul mates and a pioneer of some of the clinically based models and theories on the subject.

Dr. Dave is a clinical psychotherapist with over 22 years of experience in the field and over 10 years in private practice. His experience includes teaching, training, counseling, speaking, group facilitation, supervising and wedding officiating. In addition to relationships, Dr. Pulley also has expertise in Anxiety, Attachment, Personality Issues, Adjustment Issues, Leadership and Personal Development. Dr. Dave also has experience with anger management, blended family issues, impulse control issues and emotional immaturity amongst a much wider variety of conditions he has provided assistance with over the years.

Dr. Dave is known for building a rapport through his approachable personality. He likes to use sports, media and pop-culture and the interests of his clients to metaphorocally connect. Seeing that men in particular seem to like the sports connections, he also uses self-disclosure from his personal experiences in sports and life. These efforts all work well to make the psychological material and jargon more relatable and memorable for his clients. By making material more memorable, it makes it a bit easier to recall the tools and strategies covered in session when they are really needed.

Socially, Dr. Dave enjoys movies, watching his championship eagles, watching and playing sports, video games, game nights, and outings that include good food, music and dancing. Dr. Dave likes to try new things to stay balanced himself. He loves to connect others and help them wherever they may need it using his knowledge, his awareness and skills to provide assistance for their psycho-emotional stressors.

Connectedness brings a sense of well-being.

Your love for a passion such as running, biking, knitting, or enjoying nature evokes activation of the brain’s angular gyrus, a region involved in a number of processes related to language, number processing, spatial cognition, memory retrieval, and attention, according to a study in the Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience, led by Cacioppo.

“The love between a parent and a child, a dog and its owner, or even one’s love for a hobby or passion, can provide the feeling of connectedness we are all looking for and that we need to survive as humans,” Cacioppo said.
