Our resident, Janie, was recently recognized as the oldest known graduate of what is now Texas State. When she graduated in 1945, it was known as Southwest Texas State Teachers College.

On the special occasion of her upcoming 102nd birthday, the Executive Director of Student Engagement visited to present Janie with a Lifetime Alumna Membership.

Janie also shared a vivid memory from history. She remembers exactly where she was when Pearl Harbor happened. She was visiting a friend in San Antonio and had gone to the movies when the film was interrupted by an announcement instructing all military personnel to return at once to their duty stations.

What an incredible life story and milestone to celebrate! ✨
