Trenton competed today in the Region IV track meet in San Antonio. He threw against some very tough competition and was able to finish with a throw of 153’10” which was good enough for fifth in the region.

This was his last high school meet and he went out like he wanted to, with good form resulting in great throws. He hit a new PR and new school record yet again. I couldn’t be more proud of him!

Trenton finished first place in discus today at his opening meet of the season. There were 17 schools present with 32 throwers. Great start to the season!

You can’t have any restriction in your motion in either the windup, the spin, the release, or the follow through, to have a successful throw. We released the upper body(neck, shoulders, chest, and upper back) two days before the meet and the hips and back the night before. Fluid, relaxed motion throughout his throw and the distance proved how effective that is. He finished first place with this throw.

Spring middle and high school sports are starting as well as all of those New Years Resolutions for moms and dads. If you are in need of some bodywork, remember that your body will adapt your movements to accommodate tight muscles, not release them and heal them. So if it is bugging you now, it’s not gonna get better without correction of the problem. Get on the schedule sooner rather than later. The longer you wait, the tighter the muscles will get, and the greater the risk for injury.

What’s the absolute worst position to be behind your computer? Ask my daughter. 🙄
Hip flexors are getting short because your legs are folded at the hip. Your low back has no support. Shoulders are hunched over making your pecs short and tight, and your neck is straining to hold up your noggin because the monitor of your laptop is too low. She will hurt like crazy later and ask me to work on her.....and it all can be prevented. How? Standing desk with your monitor at eye level. Keyboard close enough to have your elbows by your side. If you need to lean, lean against the back of a regular chair. Forget the office rolling chair. About every couple of hours or so stretch those hip flexors and lateral hips. Stretch those pecs, your neck, and shoulders.

And call me sooner rather than later to fix what you can’t stretch out. It won’t fix itself. It just becomes chronically tight and pulls on your spine and is the source of a lot of low back pain.

This is a must-have tool for any athlete in any sport. CTM bands are compression bands that help with relieving fasciae restrictions in the muscles which lengthens the fibers, releasing trigger points, and using tension to create an ischemic response in the muscle, which helps to flush out the muscle, make it more pliable and thus the muscle works more efficiently, with less effort, improved range of motion.

These bands were created for elite level distance runners but my son uses it before football games. It helps to prep the muscles for work before the workout and can help flush lactic acid out after a workout. I use it on my forearms and upper arms after a long work day, on my legs after lots of activity.

The band is 72” long, has four removable hard rubber balls to get into those trigger points deep in the muscle tissue, and all fits in a small bag that can fit it any gym bag or purse.

I’m not a paid promoter for this thing at all. I just love what it does for my client athletes.
