Being interrupted, ignored, left waiting, and more.

To wrap up NEDA week, I ask you all to please take the time to read the post below. Our words matter. To children. To famous people. To adults. To Everyone. We live in a society that shames those who live in larger bodies. We’ve all been brainwashed to believe we should all look alike. And if we don’t it’s our duty to “fix” it. Many of my clients have been fat shamed at the doctor’s office, which then creates a cycle of mistrust and avoidance of medical care, not weight loss. We can all do better with accepting one another and being kind to each other. Especially online.

I can't imagine being famous, asked to perform on the super bowl half time show, and then have my weight criticized through a bunch of memes.
Isn't it wild how just recently a 12 year old child named Drayke, made national news because he strangled himself with his hoodie, because he was being bullied by children? What's the difference?
Where does it stop?
Those of you poking fun calling MJB, "Mary J. Thighs" or 50 Cent "$1.50" or saying that he's dealing with "inflation" or whatever other childish playground taunts you're publicly giggling about, are absolutely no better than the children who bullied that 12 year old child so harshly that he ended his own life. You're just those same children that have grown up, and are now doing it behind a keyboard. And while those celebrities that you're judging, won't ever see your words of criticism or jokes regarding their appearance, your friends and family who struggle with their own weight and appearance will.
I said what I said.

What a great analogy for body acceptance and an awesome message on . Negative body image and critical self talk coupled with diet culture mentality and size or fat phobic stigma is a perfect storm for an eating disorder. What are some other ways we can we start to look at our bodies with gratitude and acceptance rather than with criticism and contempt??

How different would we feel if we let go of this unnecessary and unhealthy standard of beauty? More free, more authentic, less judgmental and less hateful?

A really good read for all humans for National Eating Disorder Awareness Week! Thoughts???

I had consciously worked to stop shrinking my body several years ago when I began my recovery journey. And a lot of the time I felt good.

Thanksgiving is here! While many of us look forward to celebrating with friends and family, it can be a time of stress for someone suffering from an eating disorder to try to navigate all the food, diet and weight talk. This usually intensifies when the family is aware the person is seeking treatment or is in recovery. This article is a good reminder to stay in our own lanes this holiday season. If you are suffering with an ED, I encourage you to talk with your therapist about ways to create assertive communication and appropriate boundaries around these conversations. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

For people in recovery, the holidays can be very stressful, especially during COVID-19. Many comments can be incredibly triggering.

“Recovery is not easy. It is a road paved with peaks, pits, smooth, and rocky terrain. It helps to know that you can have something by your side to love and take care of and to love and take care of you too through your journey. Your pet can be just the companion you need in recovery.”

Pets are the best companions in life and they can be an incredible support in recovery. They don't talk, they love you unconditionally, they
