It would take 12 bowls of spinach today to equal the iron content of 1 bowl in the 1930’s.

The soils used to grow our food are depleted. To make matters worse, our food is often contaminated with pesticides, herbicides and hormone disrupters. Glyphosate (the active ingredient in Roundup) is often used before wheat is harvested to desiccate crops. Studies have shown that the most contaminated food products from this practice are cereals targeting children!

While I can’t change the farming or food industry… I want you to realize how important it is to put quality foods/supplements in your body so you can reap the benefits.

Nutraceuticals are not like supplements you would find at Walmart, GNC, Walgreens, etc... Our nutraceuticals are actually food! One of my favorite nutras in our line up (DIM SGS+) is concentrated cruciferous vegetables. This supplement helps both pelleted and non-pelleted patients better utilize testosterone/estrogen and aids our hormones in following healthy metabolic pathways (such as 2-hydroxysetrone) that have anti-cancer and anti-inflammatory benefits. Fun fact - Vitamin D is actually a hormone! You might be wondering why that matters…

Vitamin D regulates A LOT of cellular functions and there are vitamin D receptors present in many of your body’s tissues (remember from anatomy class that cells make up tissues and tissues make up organs). Cell health matters.

Unless you have lots of free time in your schedule and a banging body (or a really high fence) you likely cannot lay out in the sun and naturally synthesize enough vitamin D to have optimized serum levels (this is also heavily dependent upon your location and the season)! Additionally, I did preceptorship in dermatology and trust me when I say you don’t want skin cancer that comes along with increased sun exposure. Many people also have polymorphisms to the D3 receptor (these individuals require double the amount of vitamin D to get optimized serum levels)!

When vitamin D levels are optimized your body can better prevent and fight viruses and maintain/build muscle and bone. It can also prevent uterine fibroids, depression, thyroid disease AND even slow down the replication of metastatic cells in active cancer patients. 🤯 Realistically, the list of benefits for optimized vitamin D levels could fill up your news feed for days.

Now I’m sure I have you thinking, “I should pick up some vitamin D at Target”. 😅 If large companies had your best interest in mind… It could maybe be that simple.

Enter in ADK 10… did you know vitamin D and calcium are not enough to fully support bone health? Vitamin A, D, and K work synergistically to produce osteocalcin (a hormone that helps build and repair bone, regulate metabolism and improve cognition). Want to solve a little puzzle, learn something, and possibly have your mind blown? Let’s go.

Two identical people drink 5oz of alcohol. One dies and the other is perfectly fine. Why did this occur?

The answer… One ingested methanol and the other ingested ethanol. Both are forms of alcohol, however, their chemical composition is not the same. Similar is not the same.

One of the biggest concerns from patients before truly being educated about bioidentical hormone replacement therapy is the number of terrible side effects caused by NON-bioidentical hormone replacement. Similar is not the same.

The next question that typically arises is, “why change the testosterone or estrogen molecule if a bioidentical form is much safer and efficacious?”

The answer… natural hormones cannot be patented.

While treating low testosterone in men is important, treating this deficiency in women is equally important. Since 2004 there have been a multitude of studies confirming testosterone as breast-protective, heart-protective, bone-protective, and brain-protective for women.
