We’re proud to share that our very own Dr. C. Lan Fotopoulos presented at the Kansas City Southwest Clinical Society Winter Conference, where he spoke on vertebral augmentation. His presentation highlighted advances in minimally invasive spine care and the meaningful impact these procedures can have on improving patient outcomes.

KCOA/KCOI physicians are dedicated not only to your care, but to the continued advancement of their field and medical care for all.

At KCOI, we believe prevention is just as important as treatment, and recent scientific research reinforces that. A new study developed validated prediction models for low back pain and neck pain among office workers, demonstrating how factors like body fat percentage, spinal alignment, and muscular endurance significantly influence risk.

These findings reflect what our orthopedic specialists observe every day: back and neck pain often stem from more than just a single incident; cumulative stress, posture, and biomechanical imbalance matter.

By keeping up with cutting-edge research and integrating its lessons into care plans, we ensure patients receive not just reactive treatments but proactive guidance; helping prevent pain before it starts and supporting lifelong spinal health.

At KCOI, exceptional orthopedic care goes beyond procedures and technology; it’s driven by the people who show up every day with one purpose: caring for patients.

This year, we want to show you the “Why” behind our care. We’ll highlight stories from the physicians, nurses, and team members who make KCOI what it is, because our purpose directly shapes the way we care for you.

Because our commitment has always been about more than treatment — it’s about people.

The Midwest winter is fickle and can change in a moment!
Slip and fall cases on ice, cold exposure and overexertion are just a few of the potential injury risks that come with the winter weather.

Some precautions to help stay ahead of these injuries are to walk slowly on iced-over paths, layer up and wear proper outdoor clothing, and listen to your body.

Stay warm and stay safe out there this winter, everyone! And, if the winter weather happens to catch you off guard, KCOI will be here to help.
