is very important and integral to the success of the individual. Stress & Anxiety Management – Everybody deals with stress and anxiety, but sometimes it just becomes too much to handle on your own. More than 40 million American adults struggle with some form of an anxiety disorder. At True Self Counseling, we teach relaxation exercises and coping techniques so that you can effectively manage the stress in your life. Adolescent Counseling – As therapists, we want to help all of our clients – but adolescents in particular – to establish good habits and healthy boundaries. We strive to help these individuals determine the people they want to be right now as well as in the future. Unhealthy Relationships – When you are in an unhealthy relationship, you are not free to be your “true self.” Therefore, the process of healing from an unhealthy relationship involves re-discovering who you really are, which can be tremendously exciting and fulfilling. Treatment for Depression – One in four adults will experience major depression at some point in their lives. We aim to identify the source(s) of depression, so as to minimize the negative affects. We also collaborate with each client to decide upon more positive coping techniques. Difficult Transitions – We all go through difficult transitions in life: moving to a new area, ending a relationship, losing a job, becoming an “empty-nester.” These transitions are not always easy to go through, which is why we are here to provide support and counsel through the difficult times. Couples Counseling – Healthy relationships aren’t always easy, they take hard work, commitment, awareness, good communication, honesty, vulnerability…the list could go on and on. We strive to bring our couple clients to awareness of the unhealthy habits they’ve fallen into so that they can create healthier relational habits and restore the relationship to it’s fullest potential. Family Counseling – Families have the ability to provide a wonderful atmosphere of love, acceptance, support and encouragement. Sometimes, families can be a source of tension, anger, resentment and bitterness. Our goal is to restore the role of the family to one that provides a safe haven, allows room for individual growth, and promotes positive change. Abuse Issues – We aim to break the cycle of abuse, whether it be emotional, verbal, physical, sexual or other. In an abusive relationship, one partner is controlling, manipulating and mistreating the other. We promote healthy relationships and make sure each person knows that they deserve to be treated with respect. Divorce Recovery – Divorce is not an easy thing to go through. There is often a great amount of hurt that needs to be processed and healed. We meet with individuals as they are, whether it be broken, sad, lonely or bitter and journey with them to a healthier state of being. Women’s Issues – In our society, there tends to be a lot of pressure placed on women. They play many different roles and sometimes the many expectations can become overwhelming. We help women identify exactly who and what they want to be and help them work toward that goal.
