If I could give 4 pieces of advice to new parents today, it would be this:
1- Embrace the hard.
Parenthood is beautiful, but it’s also exhausting, messy, and stretching in ways nothing else in life can prepare you for. The hard moments aren’t signs you’re doing it wrong — they’re part of the process of becoming the parent your child needs.
2- Don’t chase perfection.
There will always be another opinion, another method, another “right way.” Your child doesn’t need a perfect parent… they need a present one. Trust your instincts, trust the people you surround yourself with, and remember that connection matters far more than perfection.
3- Protect sleep for everyone.
Sleep deprivation changes everything — patience, emotions, decision making, and health. Prioritizing rest for both parents and kids isn’t selfish, it’s foundational for a healthy home.
4- Support the nervous system.
So much of a child’s development comes back to the health of their nervous system. When their nervous system is supported, regulation becomes easier, development flows better, and resilience grows. The same is true for parents too.
None of us have it all figured out. We’re all learning as we go.
So we are curious… What’s the best piece of advice you’d give a new parent today? 👇 comment below!
