With todayโ€™s showers across the area, surfaces are slicker than they lookโ€”especially walkways, wooden decks, painted stairs, and tile entryways. These spots are the most common causes of slips and falls we see in clinic!

โœ… PT Tips to Stay Safe:

Wear shoes with good traction (skip the flip-flops today!)

Take shorter steps to improve balance

Keep your weight forward and on the mid-foot

Hold handrails when using stairs or ramps

With today's temps hitting 100 degrees, please be sure to stay cool and stay hydrated!
As a general guideline you should drink half your body weight in ounces of water. (That sounds confusing). EXAMPLE: If you weigh 100 pounds, drink 50 ounces of water. If you weigh 200 pounds, drink 100 ounces of water.
That guideline is on a normal temperature day.
For a hot day like today, add another 30-50 ounces.
If you HAVE to work outside today, experts recommend 32 ounces (one quart) PER HOUR.
