🚁 WELCOME, CHRIS HALE 🚁

Last, but not least, introducing flight paramedic Chris Hale! Congratulations on your first of many safe patient flights.

Chris has his CCP-C and brings 19 years of EMS experience to the base including time as an EMS director. Chris is a husband, father, and sports fanatic. His wife, Katie, is a flight paramedic at neighboring base, AE56!

Presenting his wings is his partner and flight nurse, Kara Boucher! We’re thrilled to have him on our team!

🪽🪽 CONGRATULATIONS AND WELCOME, OLIVIA JACKSON!🪽🪽

So many exciting firsts this week. Help us to welcome Olivia Jackson to the team and congratulate her on her first patient flight! Olivia brings more than a decade of experience as a paramedic to the base. In her spare time you can also find her serving her community as a firefighter.

Olivia is a wife and proud mom of two daughters. She says her family is her biggest support system. Olivia is an animal lover and even has five dogs at home!

Everyone help us in welcoming new crew member David Deboard. He has now completed his first patient flight with partner and flight paramedic, Lindsey Brown.

David is filling a flight nurse role here at AE173, but is actually dual certified as a paramedic! He comes with many years of EMS experience, including previous experience in helicopter EMS.

We’re glad to have you aboard, David. Here’s to many more safe patient flights! 🚁

✨ Meet Our Base Clinical Lead — Joey Spalding! ✨

We’re excited to talk about Flight Paramedic Joey Spalding, who will be celebrating his two years with our program this February! Joey is known for his calm and steady presence on transports. He keeps us on our toes with his dry, but hilarious sense of humor.

Joey has over 20 years of experience as a paramedic and serves as a paramedic instructor at a local college. That being said, he is a familiar face to most surrounding hospitals and EMS!

Joey is the jack of all trades and has the coolest background including being a paramedic/deputy on the SWAT team, working construction, and even being a certified scuba diver!

We’re grateful to have him leading our clinical team and supporting our crews with both expertise and humor! 💛🚁

✨ Pilot Spotlight: Aaron Pearson ✨

Today we’re introducing Pilot Aaron Pearson, a dedicated member of the Air Evac 173 team.

Aaron has spent six years working in helicopter EMS after entering aviation through a civilian pathway. Becoming a pilot has been his dream since childhood, and flying EMS has been a truly rewarding and fulfilling calling for him. He shared that he’s incredibly thankful for the opportunity to work within the Air Evac family — and we’re just as grateful for the commitment and camaraderie he brings to every shift.

We wanted to extend our deepest condolences to the family, friends, and crew members of Air Evac 62 Pilot Michael Atzert.

As many have already heard, Mike was in a tragic and fatal motor vehicle accident on his way to work this past week.

Mike was a very experienced pilot with 9 years served in the US Navy and 11 years serving our country as an Apache pilot in the United States Army. Mike then dedicated his life to serving our communities with well-over 1000 patient flights.

We send our condolences to Air Evac Lifeteam 62 - Bowling Green, KY, the crews that have flown with him over the years, especially to his wife and his 4 year old son Charles.
