Compeer of Lebanon County

Spend time with someone who is feeling lonely and isolated while on the road to wellness and recovery from a mental illness.

Compeer began in the United States in Rochester, NY more than 35 years ago and is guided by a simple premise: the support of friends enhances the quality of life, improves the ability to cope with life's stress, and foster mental wellness. Today there are over thousands of volunteers and 91 Compeer affiliates in the United States, Canada and Australia.

Compeer exists for the purpose of matching caring adults in one-to-one supportive friendships with people of the same gender who are recovering from a mental illness. Compeer provides comprehensive training, helps with selecting a friendship connection and offers ongoing support every step of the way. "If you care, you qualify!"

Mission: To enhance and support recovery, wellness, and a sense of belonging for our friends and neighbors living with mental illness. We strive to accomplish this with care, compassion and excellence.

Today we wanted to share this inspiring talk from Travis Mills, an Afghanistan veteran who lost all of his limbs in combat. He shares his story and how he keeps going. Check the video out at the link below!
