Taken from a recent article from our lab Hoya...

"Why Kids Need Sunglasses:
The sun emits 100 times more blue light than indoor lights.
Blue light exposure can add up over time and increase the risk of retinal damage.
For every 1,000 feet in elevation, UV and blue light exposure jump by 8%.
By the time they turn 18, kids have already been exposed to 50% of their lifetime UV light."

Crazy right?

Did you also know that our children are spending a significantly more amount of time outside then us adults do which in turn increases their exposure to UV and other solar radiation?

We often times spend time picking out sunglasses for ourselves but forget that our little ones need them just as much as we do. We are their advocates so it's up to us to get them just as protected. The best time to start protecting and preserving their eye health is when they are born. Early care is the best care!

Fields of Vision Eye Care will be closing early today in celebration of the total eclipse. The office will be closed at 2pm. Please travel safely and we will be open for regular business hours on Tuesday, April 9th @ 8am. Don't forget if you are planning to view the Eclipse make sure you use your ISO 12312-2 certified protective eyewear. Also, think about your pets during this time and keep them inside and safe.
