Joey recently received a Permobil F5 Corpus VS standing chair thanks to the Permobil Foundation. We love that this chair gives him an opportunity to give back to the community that gave him so much!

"As a 10-year-old, I had dreams of being the next professional baseball, football, or whatever sports player there was. After an accident, I was so blessed by coaches, teachers, and community members that rallied around me and made sure to keep me involved in sports. Now as an adult and volunteer assistant coach, being able to stand up safely and confidently with the high school student athletes, look to them at eye level, physically involve myself with one arm, and converse with the head coach and referees during time outs, has made my world, and hopefully those I share the gym/field/arena with, a beautiful one.

The greatest gift I could ask for is not to stand, but rather to stand tall… and be gracious to those who allowed me to do that. Thank you for everything you do. Your help is priceless."

We had a chance to visit University of Colorado Physical Therapy Program Immersion Lab at University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus as part of their education day on complex rehabilitation technology. DPT students learned about power and manual wheelchairs, with topics such as standing, alternative drive controls, and manual wheelchair skills. Thank you for having us and !

We love to see David using his ROHO cushion to stay comfortable while he sails! ⛵ How do you use your ROHO cushion?

“I use a ROHO to prevent pressure injuries. I am an avid sailor and always use a ROHO cushion in the boat. I also use it on airplane seats, on my shower chair, etc. I recently leant my extra ROHO to a friend with a broken hip so she could go to a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game!” - David

Kyra learned how to use a power wheelchair starting with the K450. This chair gave her mobility and access in her preschool environment. Her favorite memory was being able to get to the floor to play with her friends. After outgrowing the K450, she moved into the K300 PS Jr and eventually the F3 for high school graduation. Now 19 years old, Kyra uses her new Permobil F5 Corpus VS to stand.

"Before this chair, I used a stationary stander that someone had to transfer me into. I could only tolerate 30 mins at a time because of pain in my hips, knees and feet. Now I don’t have pain when I stand, and I am able to adjust my positioning independently and throughout the day."
