The Boone County Economic Development Corporation was proud to attend the ribbon cutting ceremony for the Cross Haven Sensory Garden, an initiative led by The Arc of Greater Boone County and supported through the READI 1.0 program.

The Cross Haven Sensory Garden is a thoughtfully designed, inclusive space that promotes connection, accessibility, and well-being for individuals of all abilities. Featuring sensory-rich plants, accessible pathways, and interactive features, the garden serves as a place for reflection, learning, and community engagement.

Boone EDC is honored to support The Arc and other amazing partners in advancing projects like this as part of the “180 in Color” initiative, efforts that enhance the vibrancy, inclusivity, and quality of life across our communities.

We extend our sincere congratulations to The Arc of Greater Boone County and the artists for their vision and leadership in bringing this meaningful project to life!

In this 8-session class, you’ll:
✅ Learn simple ways to feel safer and more independent
✅ Practice easy exercises to improve strength and balance
✅ Share experiences and encouragement with friends
✅ Discover tips to stay active and do the things you enjoy

So humbled that we were selected for this project. It's a long term dream come to reality!

Sounds, sights and smells are all important sensory receptors, but they can be overwhelming for people with disabilities. A new sensory garden offers respite and education for Arc of Greater Boone County clients.

Last Thursday a group of employees from Eli Lilly and Company came as part of their day of service. They had a very productive day working on the sensory arts garden, conducting trial interviews with people we support, and doing a creative project with recycled hard hats! Thank you so much!
