Today we’re highlighting and celebrating this year’s summer intern group as they enter their final weeks with us! This year we had 48 undergraduate interns and 16 high school interns join us for the summer working to support over 50 different teams across Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Dartmouth Hitchcock Clinics.

Our interns held roles in patient-facing clinical departments, operational, and administrative areas. These roles included working as mobility technicians or in inpatient units as LNAs. Our interns also worked in areas like laboratories, ambulatory clinic support, radiology, environmental services, the Value Institute, and more! Through their different roles, our interns gained valuable work experience, professional development opportunities, and experiential learning.

As their summer experience comes to a close and celebrating National Intern Day yesterday, we’re reflecting on another successful summer with our interns. This is our eighth year offering an internship program and so far, we’ve had 447 participants over those eight years.

Thank you to all our interns for your hard work this summer! From New Hampshire and Vermont to Virginia, Texas, and beyond — our interns bring fresh ideas, unique perspectives, and a passion for learning that helps to fuel our work and mission as an academic medical center.

Feel Good Friday update featuring Buggie, a 3 year old mixed breed goofball who is up for adoption! Blood Donor Program employees Amber, Katie, and Lauryn came together with RayLynn and team from Upper Valley Humane Society and Briana and Mike from West Lebanon Feed & Supply to help deliver almost 1,000 pounds of dog and cat food from the Pints for Paws blood drive in May. Wow! 🐾

👋 Say hello to our new group of residents and fellows at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center! The Graduate Medical Education (GME) Office team planned another successful 2025 GME Orientation this summer. The GME Office guides and educates physicians as they develop the skills and expertise to provide safe, high-value patient care through professional, ethical, and compassionate behavior.

One of the most meaningful honors in nursing is our Nurse Preceptor/Mentor awards. This special recognition carries on the legacy of Barbara Agnew, an extraordinary nurse, whose passion for teaching and compassion changed many lives. Barbara knew how to help new nurses find confidence and purpose in their work.

This year, we recognize three incredible nurses who continue Barbara’s legacy by mentoring, guiding and supporting new team members.

👏 Congratulations to our 10 Project SEARCH at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center Interns who graduated last month! Project SEARCH is a unique, business-led, one-year school-to-work program that takes place entirely at the workplace. Total workplace immersion facilitates a seamless combination of classroom instruction, career exploration, and hands-on training through worksite rotations.

And our interns sure worked all over the hospital in the last year! You could find them rotating through experiences in: Blood Bank/Cancer Center, Cafeteria, Clean Linen, Central Sterile Reprocessing, Diagnostic Radiology, Dietary, Dietary-Stocking, Dirty Linen, Endoscopy, Gift Shop, Guest Services, IT, LAB-Billing/Mailouts, LAB-Gross Room, LAB-LSR, Medical Specialties, Medical Supply, Neurology, Ophthalmology, Outpatient Rehab, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, Phlebotomy, Transport, Video Production, and Warehouse. Wow! Currently 6 of this year’s Project SEARCH at DHMC graduates are working, and the other 4 are actively looking for work. We are going into our 15th year of this program, with the next group starting in August.

🦷 Affordable Dental care is hard to get these days, and this clinic is a fully equipped dental office providing comprehensive care that has a positive impact on community health.

NH Medicaid patients age 21 and older can attend a mobile dental clinic on Saturday, July 19 or Sunday, July 20 at Lebanon City Hall. It will be located behind City Hall on Flynn Street.
