Here's Justin Montgomery, DNP, APRN, our Vice President of Nursing, sharing why "Movember" is important to him and how he's helping to raise awareness for men’s health with others across Dartmouth Health.

November is the season of giving. This year, the team at the Functional Restoration Program wanted to express their gratitude to The Maynard House for the incredible support they provide to our patients.

Over the past two years, 14 of our patients have stayed at The Maynard House during their programs, describing it as “a home away from home.” For many, a four-week hotel stay is simply not feasible—and even the modest $40 per night at The Maynard House can be out of reach. Despite this, the compassionate staff always find ways to accommodate those in need, often allowing patients to stay at little or no cost. Their kindness, welcoming environment, and dedication allow our patients to focus on their treatment rather than the stress of travel or finances.

To show their appreciation for this wonderful community resource, the FRP team within the Pain Clinic organized a donation drive for much-needed supplies.

We appreciate our team and our community partners. Special thanks to those in the photos for sharing this example of gratitude in action: FRP Medical Lead Colleen Olson, APRN, Olivia Franceschelli, OTR/L, Heather Jones, OTA/PTA, Jessica Senna, Program Coordinator, and director of The Maynard House, Anne Goodrich.

🦃 With your help, our Blood Donor Program was able to donate over 200 turkeys to this year's Turkey Day and community food market at the Upper Valley Haven!

We also had some volunteers on site, enjoying their time with the team by directing traffic and distributing "dry sides" on Pod 4. Thank you to Amber, Diana and helper Callum. What a great day to give back to our community!

Working in the Emergency Department tests strength, skill and heart. It’s not an easy place to be a nurse, but it's where compassion and service to others shines. Recently, we honored Luke Little, DNP, RN, CEN, with a DAISY Award for the extraordinary care and empathy he provided during a heart-wrenching moment. He reminds us all of the profound impact nurses have every day. 💚

“The culture of Dartmouth Health means everyone is learning and teaching and growing,” says Katrinia A. Rogers, BSN, RN. Rogers is nurse manager of our Same Day Program, where patients prepare and recover after a same-day procedure and loved ones monitor progress through a confidential number assigned to a screen in the waiting room. This section of the hospital has 34 beds: 9 adult preoperative, 16 postoperative, 6 pediatric, and 5 regional nerve block beds. Rogers says in total she and her team are responsible for an average of 162 patient encounters a day.

She has worked here for over 10 years, now along with some 65 colleagues. She relishes her work. Being a nurse seems to be in her DNA. “My mom's a nurse, my aunt's a nurse. It's kind of a family trait you could say, and it's a very satisfying way to give back to your community and to help others.“
