We want to start off by mentioning our appreciation and gratitude of all of your continued support.🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼We couldn’t do it without all of your donations, time, and dedication to the animals here at the HSLC.❤️There are some things that we need to address here on Facebook due to the overwhelming amount of strays and daily calls/messages.📞
To begin, we want to start off mentioning that we have already doubled our numbers of animals in our care back in May.🤯As of today, we have currently taken in 662 animals since January 1st. In this number, has included very little surrenders due to the stray population as we are receiving a minimum of at least 4 stray dogs weekly.😧This is not including cats or other animals found in Lebanon County.
There is an ongoing need for community support.🙏🏼As we do try to help provide food for individuals who are struggling within the county, this being our pet food pantry is being depleted and we are soon not going to be able to assist with the need of supplies.😓Majority of our community is in need of help of cat food (canned and dry), cat litter, and dog food.
Please understand that we know that there is a major need for surrendering animals at this time, as we have over 150+ dogs on our waitlist and probably double the number in cats.😰Unfortunately at this time, we have no kennels space available or ability to intake any animals. Staff are working very diligently to do what they can in order to help.🥺
As of this year, we have had multiple cats with broken legs that have needed leg amputation, 4 Parvo cases in stray dogs, multiple hospice senior cases that have been abandoned, and mange/severe skin dermatitis cases.💉💊 With many of these medical situations needing further care by specialists or other veterinary offices further away.
As of right now, there are many items that we are low on. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.🙏🏼Some of the items that we are in need of are soft dog treats, Dawn dish soap, dog toys, kitten supplies, non-clumping cat litter and leashes/collars/harnesses.
Rescue is never easy, every rescue is struggling right now - mentally, physically and emotionally.😔It is a 24/7 job and unfortunately sometimes it feels as though we can never win. At this moment, we are short staffed and training new individuals, so please be patient with all rescue staff and organizations as they are working tirelessly for the needs of the animals and their care.🤕Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions about applications or anything we may have missed, as there is an abundance of events that happen throughout the week.
