This week’s “coffee with a shot of gratitude” Best possible outcome and new boots!
I suppose it’s time to SPILL THE BEANS. I had to weigh options, research data, sit with my feelings and come to a place of acceptance before making what I believe is the best choice for me, bilateral total hip replacements!
I will certainly be talking about this more as the surgical date approaches, but for now, let’s talk about those hiking boots. It’s important for our lower brain to not leave stories open ended, the unknown feels unsafe and the lower brain’s one job is to keep us alive. Another tool the lower brain uses to keep us safe is to easily default to the negative because believing all is well, isn’t safe. Because what we believe to be true becomes our reality, I choose to believe in the best possible outcome, but because our built in default is in opposition to this, it will take real effort and practice. The first step in this practice was purchasing these boots. I WILL wear them a LOT next year, They WILL support my new hips in discovering beautiful new places, they WILL be on my feet when I make my first pain free summit in years, and they WILL act as a source of inspiration on the tough days of recovery. Most importantly, they WILL help me visualize my best possible outcome!
