I am constantly being questioned on PB2. Here is the answer.
Is PB2 Clean? Healthy?
NO…not in terms of being a "healthy option or health food."
it is not a clean food. (when referring to the definition of "clean"). Why?
Simply because it is stripped of the natural oils and replaced with sugar and salt. And when stripped, this process also removes some of the important benefits like Vitamin E, found in natural peanut butter. However, consumption of it DEPENDS ON ONE'S GOALS.
People are still so fixated on calories and fat even after eons of making everything with less calories and fat has failed us. Obesity is significantly on the rise and people are still looking for ways to destroy food to the point where it’s not recognizable.
It’s never been about the numbers--natural fat and calories. If you eat foods in their natural state that contain fat, you’ll trigger a hormonal response from leptin that tells your body you’re full. It’s when you start messing with foods outside of their natural state that you begin screwing up the signals and may end up overeating.
If you ate mostly natural foods and got your body in balance, a little bit of natural fat would never be an issue.
Overall, if one is seeking to create a truly clean and completely natural way of eating from real whole foods, then PB2 wouldn’t make the list.
On the other hand, if you are eating mainly for aesthetics/physique goals, and tend to overdo it with the peanut butter, and have little to no concern for the purity of a food, then PB2 would suit you.
Eat for your goals. Find your balance.
