Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital
Our mission is to improve the health and wellbeing of our community. Since 1932, Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital (APD) has been the community hospital of the Upper Valley, delivering high-quality health care in a friendly environment where patients come first.
Mrs. Alice Peck Day was a fifth generation resident of Lebanon, NH. Upon her death in 1927, she bequeathed her family home to found a cottage hospital in 1927. Dr. Arthur Burnham, one of the area's leading physicians at the time, helped lead the drive for incorporation, and APD opened its doors for the first time on February 1, 1932.
Today, APD cares for 20,000 patients per year from communities throughout New Hampshire and Vermont. Long-known for providing highly personalized care, APD also offers a wide range of specialized services which include orthopaedic surgery, neurosurgery, pain management, primary and family care, senior care, and women’s care. The majority of APD’s outpatient services moved into the new Multi-Specialty Clinic in the fall of 2017. Through APD’s affiliation with Dartmouth-Hitchcock Health, we affirm our commitment to creating a sustainable health system to improve the lives of the people and communities we serve for generations to come.
