Hi friends!
IF you saw my previous post, you might have seen that I am hosting a retreat in MArch of 2025! I am so incredibly excited. I have been hoping to host a retreat for years now and thanks to many pieces falling into place, my dream is becoming a reality.

Yoga Lee Studio has been such a beautiful place to meet new people, connect and sharing the healing power of movement. This retreat is an extension of that.

We will be heading to the Azores for 5 days and 6 nights of magic. Think equal parts outdoor adventure and relaxation. If you know me, you know I love a mix of both. There will be guided hikes, and trips to the hot springs followed by free days to lounge by the pool or get a massage. There will be all of the Yoga Lee signature classes (feel good, feel strong, feel grounded, feel nourished) and some NEW classes: think nervous system relaxation and regulation, myofascial release and maybe, just maybe a special guest team member.

Today on the podcast, we have Charlotte Mah with all her wisdom. Charlotte Mah is a physiotherapist and health coach who is passionate about using neuro drills to help ambitious, overwhelmed  professionals to bust stress for good by breaking the cycle of people pleasing and perfectionism so that they can start saying yes to themselves so that they can confidently create the lifestyle and relationships they desire! 

Charlotte Shares what brought her into this field, how what happened in childhood plays a role in how we show up now and SO much more. She gives us some REAL tangible tools to practice TODAY and offers some insights for my people pleasers and perfectionists out there.

Something I believe in deeply is the idea of "taking your body with you."

Honestly it's not mine, I heard it years ago and it resonated so deeply.

But what does it mean?

In our modern world, we often push through challenges (physical, mental and emotional) without pausing to notice where we are.  We forego sleep, skimp on nutrition and ignore our bodys signals to what? Get a promotion? Pass the test? Prove we can do it all?

(Now I recognize there is a time and place for just moving forward, putting one foot in front of the other and that's it. Survival mode after trauma and early motherhood are two instances that come to mind immediately)

But In general, our bodies are a part of the process. Our bodies feel, sense and process what we are going through each day. They are there in the highs and the lows and they FEEL it all 

A lot can learned from tuning in and noticing our physical bodies. 

AND

A lot can be gained from training our bodies and brains to be more resilient, flexible and in tune to the ebbs and flows of life. 

This September i transitioned out of a challenging season of life where I didn't pay attention to my body (or myself at all for that matter). I focused on:

- grounding 

- all the time in nature 

- lots of walk with the dog and fam

- good quality sleep

- lots of protein and yummy food

- gentle yet challenging bike rides

- lots of hiking

- all the nervous system nourishment

- letting go of people, places and things that don't make me feel good.

And now, as I enter a different season of life: challenging in new ways and white exciting-- um focusing on all the above PLUS:

- challenging my physical body more: longer bike rides, strength training, cold plunge 

- meditation and breathwork 

- loving in my lymphatic system 

- challenging my brain by learning new things, reading and putting myself in new situations.

Here's the thing: when I show up for  my body, my body shows up for me.
